I use all my Spydies, to be honest. That being said, I really don't have the truly high-end collectible models. My ladybug is on my keychain. My Salt 1 and Delica 4 are in EDC rotation. My Persistence is my beater knife and has seen quite a bit of service. Currently, I've been EDC'ing my UKPK for quite some time now. I love the steel and the ergo's.

With so many great models, it's hard for me to justify buying a safe-queen when I can buy an awesome user and extract even more enjoyment out of a knife. I suppose this will change with time, as I have more money to blow on Spydies. :)

I guess I'm wierd. I've got a C54BMS Calypso with six missing teeth, a Ti Police with battle scars and a Micarta C39 clipped to my watch pocket that sees more use than the C44 below it. My upside down logo Spyderhawk has had the tip reground after the original snapped off (locust wood is really hard) and my S90V Manix 2 plays backup drywall knife to my S90V/CF Military. The only one I haven't carried is the tieclip Police, and that's because I haven't worn a tie in about twenty years. I thought they were all meant to be used. ;)
I don't believe in safe queens, only in pre-need replacements.

Golden CO NATIVE = super USER

Hey Dude!! :D WE must be related to each other  :D Because I do use the first 3 you mentioned frequently. With the exception of the Forester I have also owned and used the others you've mentioned. Is that a coincidence or what  :D ????

And they are all models I dearly adore too. I've EDCed my G-10 Harpy for almost 20 months straight now and I have no inkling, predilection or desire to rest or retire it anytime soon either.

Wow!! I'm really amazed at how many hard core users came to the light to proclaim themselves hard core Spyder Users

If this isn't a direct telegram for a re-introduction of the G-10 Harpy then I don't know what it will take to make it known.

Another thing that amazes me is wide variety of different models you are all using. There aren't many sectors that haven't been covered up till now.

I have another Golden Colorado USA model I want to proclaim as a Super Spyder User> The 440V, SE Native is one of the meanest, toughest and most durable user blades I've ever worked with. I think it's high time for an S90V Native.

Great feedback thus far guys

Yes, but weird in this context is a good thing. After all, the Spyderco philosophy is oriented to users, not caressers. Guys like you are able to provide the valuable feedback needed to improve the knives that are made and sold. A safe queen gives up no secrets.

I had my TC07 out at the work xmas party... they expect me to wear a tie and clean up, I'm making it count :p
I'd wear a shirt & tie to work if folks didn't start asking if I'm gov't or mafia  :D

You bet your Sweet Bippy!!! :D I've got a blue PE Dodo user I keep here in my desk and I use it around the house for various chores. And I've been offered some pretty handsome trades for that Dodo and I've turned them all down. I even turned down a C-54 PE model and they were amazed

That Dodo had far too short of a tenure on the main line up in my opinion. Best blade Eric Glesser has designed up till now in the specialty category.

If I worked where I had to open many boxes during the day I would use the Dodo over any box knife out there. You better believe the Dodo is a Super User. Now it's one of the Super Users that did transcend the line>> because it is also a super collector piece too. It will come back I'm sure of it.

I've worn the scales down so bad on my Snap-it, that it's no longer a one hand open. My pocket knife is the Meerkat since that's the one that got me started. I also carry a Spyderwrench while camping/fishing, and a Delica PE on occasion.

I told a friend the other day that I think the knives with the best chance or being my safe queens are oddly enough the cheap knock offs of really nice designs that I don't trust to use. Really nice to look at but with realistic fear of the blade shattering (again) the low cost knife is actually the one that could be my safe queen right now. A user to me includes a knife that is carried for the purpose of using if needed and those would not qualify.

Any knife I buy I consider designed to be used so as far as Spyderco it isn't limited to but does include all of the models I own listed in my sig. It is the kind of broad stroke answer that doesn't really answer your question specifically but it seems to be a common response so far.

I'm not knocking collectors at all either. If I had the money there are a lot less interesting things (for me) to collect than knives. I'll also be the first to admit I don't need every knife I own but they do get used. The only knife I could see buying now with no plans to use would be one with some investment potential for whatever variety of things that could be the reason. I have a firearm that is consistently rising in value every year that I can't stop myself from using so separating the high quality users from safe queen knives may not be something I can do.

I probably never own as many :spyder: 's as a lot in this forum. To date 6 folders and soon to be 3 fixed blades. The folders get used, from the Delica which I've sharpened well :D to the Manix2, Stretch2 ZDP, Pacific salt, Lum Chinese. Haven't had the heart or need to try out the bradley yet although I'm confident It will perform.
In fixed blades the forester gets used most chopping small wood at my friends house on the lake, haven't discovered a niche for the dayhiker as I haven't been camping in a while. When the Temp2 comes in we'll see where it falls.

Good topic!! :D

There are lots of others, but these were the first in my head - I hope that someday I accually recieve the Spyderhawk I ordered - I know it'll be a user.

- best wishes, Jazz.

I only have a few but I make every single one of them work for a living. Walmart Naitive, Pacific Salt, S90V Military, the old Manix Sprint, ZDP E4. Chipped the Manix a bit the other day, because it had to do some rugged crap. Had to cut a hardwood stepladder apart and did some injudicious prying. Can't imagine owing a Spyderco (or any other brand) that couldn't be ramrodded if necessary.

If Im not going to use a Spyderco I get rid of it. Like I did with that Leaf Storm, God what a awkward grip that thing has.

I carried my G-10 ATS 55 Harpy for two years straight as my EDC. It is one of the best knife shapes out there for every day use. it does not slice vegtables, but it gets the other jobs done. When it comes to cutting cardboard or some of those hard plastic cases that tools come in, there is no better knife to open those. I can see how the small hook in the Dodo would also make a similar cut. Glad to hear you like the Harpy so much. I just purchased the Spyderhawk, but it is a bit big in the pocket for EDC. If it was a tip down design, it would probably carry better in my pocket. I plan on getting the H-1 spyderhawk, so I can have something to use in the garden. Nothing cuts quite like a hawk bill!

I love the carbon fiber so my S90V manix is my EDC. I try to carry the 154cm with me but the S90V is always in my pocket. I also use my kris and my CF harpy too. The kris more than the harpy. If i had more pockets i would use more spydies it's just hard to take the place of the ones i carry on a regular basis. That CF harpy sure is sharp though. The massad ayoob is a very very sharp knife as well and that one sees the pocket every now and then. I finally have my 440C Spyderfly sharp again and it'll find more time in my pocket outside of work now. If i could ever get an S90V millie it would definitely be in my pocket all the time along with my S90V manix. Maybe one day i'll be lucky to find one.

I have a bunch of users which I rotate but these seem to get most use:

Military
Persian
Delica
Salt
Kopa/ Kiwi
Caly 3

Oh yeah, recently on holiday I found that the Rock Salt makes a great kitchen and BBQ knife :D (stupid holiday rental home had a knife that could cut better with its spine than with the edge - I left the home with a courtesy to the owner.... I sharpened his knives for him :p )

All the knives above I use fairly hard with the exception of the Kopa and Kiwi which are generally used to cut smaller things. I'd say my Salt probably gets more 'abuse' from me than any of the others.... God I love H1 steel !!!

Do you have doubles of these knives as safe queens?

All the knives I have are used, even CC ones that I have gotten. What is the point of having a knife if you don't use it? There is only so much that you can appreciate about a design without actually using it. That's why I love my Stretch =]
I used to NOT like thumbholes. Until I used one.
Just like I didn't like the look of Spyderco knives in general. Until I held one.
