Orange FRN Rescue 79mm Question

#1

Post by Chopping Broccoli »

So my new Orange FRN Rescue 79mm knife arrived this afternoon. I like everything about it except when it is closed. It looks like its not closed all the way and the blade sticks out a lot further than any other Spyderco I have ever seen. Is this normal? Its almost as if the slot the closed blade sits in needs to be drilled out some more. You can still see the tops of the teeth of the blade when its closed. I just find that odd as all my other Spyderco's are nice and as compact as they can be when closed. Not the case for this model.

One more thing. The Orange FRN is awesome. Its a shame they are not using Orange FRN on the new FFG Delica's and Endura's.

From your description it seems to close the same as my spydies. Does it look like these?

Some scallops of some serrations can be seen when you'd flip these knives over.

Yep. That's how it looks. The visible scallops just look a bit weird when the knife is closed. I wasn't expecting that when I opened the box.

Thanks for the pictures.

Nice pic Wouter, thanks. A quick question without wanting to derail the thread, but, were the stainless clips originally black and if so how did you get them so shiny. Look great.

The orange one I just received came with a stainless clip, just as shiny as the ones in Wouter's picture.

The non black handled rescues all came with the polished clip.
We would rather be the knife in your pocket, because is "works" better, than the knife in your showcase, because it "looks" better.

The orange Rescue in the picture is one of my son's (13 year old) favorite knives and one of his EDC's.
