Most Expensive Spyderco by MSRP

#1

Post by smikesmith3 »

I was checking out some sites today and noticed a Delica Damascus, Jigged Bone Handle Plain - SKU C11JBBP.

MSRP is saying $2,439.95

I love Spyderco's but that seems a little much for me. Is this even the real price? If so why so much and where is this knife from.

Thanks,

Mike

i recall some site asking like 12K for a spyderco  . i believe the most expensive one(s) is either the commerative workers in a case or the dinosaur bone. i am betting on the dino bone.

what you are mentioning is the anniversary delica. here is a link to the spydiewiki page on it. if you ever have a question on a particular model that is the quickest way to find out usually.

Very nice RIOT.
I like the mirror-finish on the blade a lot.

Does it have a pocket clip?

Spyderbug.com has a price guide for most models and includes the MSRP, it's available for download over here:http://spyderbug.com/downloads/

Looks like the anniversary Delica is the most expensive on that list as well.

AFAIK, the Spyderco offering with the highest MSRP was the Evolution Set which cost $495 in 1994, but consisted of two knives. Highest MSRP for a single knife was the C22 CF Michael Walker at $456 in 1999, with the C27 Horn at $449 in 1998 a close second.

Actual MSRP for the C76 25th Anniversary Delica was a mere $350. Again AFAIK, there has never been a C11JBBP.

Some websites put absurd prices on items they know are permanently out of stock, assuming it will discourage people from ordering them. Sometimes the "idiot proofing" ploy works, sometimes not.
