There’s more than one way to skin a Cat...

I've got my brand new Catbyrd, and I'm very satisfied with it. Really nice knife, but I wanted to "update" it a little bit. One of our finest knifemaker pimped it. The whole knife is bead blasted, removed all the letters from the blade, too. So now it's a totally steril knife. All of the edges (opening hole, handle) had smooted, altogether with the jimping and choil. It has teflon spacers between the blade and handle now, so it is much easier to open.

What I find surprising, that the frame lock is not hard to open, as others told me. Actually it is very easy to operate for me even with my left hand, although I'm absolutely righty (my right hand wounded badly some times ago, so I have to use a lot of things with my left until the right will heal).

I think I will have a great EDC knife along with my Cara Cara G10 (which will get some teflon spacers and refined jimping and choil in this week, too). I'm really sorry for this knife to be discontinued, but I'm happy to get one before it would be hard to find. ;)

The nice is very beautiful looking, but the picture I've quoted concerns me. The lock doesn't look very secure, it is barely grabbing the edge of the blade. Maybe someone here, or maybe your knifemaker could take a look at it and tell you if he thinks the lock provides a good holding force. (It seems like it would be very easy to make the lock engage more.)

I really like the looks of this knife, you seem like and should be a proud owner. :)

At first sight I also noticed the strange lock-blade relation. It seems like the blade sitting on the little ball of the lock... but no, fortunatelly :p I asked the man about it (who made the finish). He told me it locks securely anyway. I also find it secure. Because of the fix built in of the frame lock (one piece with the handle panel) it cannot be really modifing without a serious risk (imho). I would not intend to use this folder to serious (hard) cutting tasks like bushcraft. I have some cheap Swedish Mora knife for that. Kitty's lock should hold well as an EDC knife, I think.
