Could be wrong, but I think you may have misread that. Way I read it, he was saying he'd never order from the US again, he'll stick with W&W or S&R in the future.

I think you're right bud! On re-reading that I see what you mean. I originally thought he was saying never again will he use Warriors or S & R knives! My bad. Sorry sixheads! LOL

I work in Jane/Finch but live in 'Sauga. Lived there sine '77.

I think we need a GTA meet around S&R. Come down, buy something, go for java/beers/wings whatever.

**** FIMS, Jane and Finch huh? Not the nicest of areas is it? Stay safe man! I just PM'd you back too.
Funny I was gonna suggest a meet too. I'm game but it may have to be in the spring. I'll be pretty busy packing, moving and settling into my house for the next couple months.

Yeah that burns my hide sometimes. I ordered one of the CountyComm style Bail Out Bags from LA Police Gear (I think) a few years ago. The bag was about $30 plus $10 shipping via UPS or FedEx or whichever it was, then I got hit with another $40 duty/brokerage! A $30 bag cost me close to $80! And to make things worse I don't even use it on a regular basis! My EDC and work gear is too heavy for a courier style bag, I need a backpack to even out the weight.

BTW does anyone know if there are any decent knife shows in the GTA? I've yet to come across one, other than (IIRC) the Outdoor Living show or something like that, down at the CNE. I don't even know when they had the last one since I went several years ago. I don't recall too many knife vendors though.

In the spring time the Canadian Knife Guild usually has shows but their site isn't updated for 2010.

I know of a show I think in Feb/March but it's in Ottawa if I recall.

Exactly! I don't know of any shows in the Toronto area. I doubt I'll be driving to Ottawa for any knife show! I'll have to do some searching for that Canadian Knife Guild.

My last shipment was mistakenly assessed for PST (despite having "ALBERTA" on the address label...)
That was in October... I got the refund cheque last week.

Otherwise, the only thing of note was that Cutlery Shoppe needs a bit of time to process international orders--they were very good about responding to my questions, it just took them a while. (I bought during a sale, and there were apparently quite a few Canadians who did the same.)

W&W is the first place to check, but I've had good luck with all the major American retailers. Border services is always a pain to deal with if your order is worth more than $180 or so. (I haven't had any knives confiscated, but my brother has.)

W&W is the best knife store in Canada and the owner, Jay, is very conscientious. He is very much a one man show though ,so at times he may get a little overwhelmed by orders. However you can't go wrong dealing with him.

? ?
um,...uh yeah i couldnt agree with you more! :) he yaks it up on the phone for like forty minutes though. im like "jesus bro i got to go is this costing me alot of money to talk to you?!" let me place my order and hang up!!!
my package was opened by customs and they put that "we searched your stuff paper in it" but eveything was cool. hopefully if i ever get anything that was not made in golden it wont be an arm and a leg. i only use him for stuff i cant get in usa. after all, what is the point? but yeah he is a good guy, shipping slow, not all his fault though :o

I've ordered from Jay at W&W twice recently and both orders were shipped immediately and arrived at my house in Florida in exactly 4 days. Neither package was opened by customs although both were marked clearly what they were. ("Folding Cutlery" or something like that.) I've been very pleased with his responsiveness and service and would have no problem buying from him in the future.

I disagree, my friend althogh i wouldnt bash W&W . But i have had better service from S and R knives .

Have you delt with all the knife stores in Canada . I agree that W&W is good but the best is opinion only.

I dont work for any knife store and have done buisness with both.

Lets leave our shiny footprints.

I agree 100% as I have spent thousands with Warriors & Wonders and have been rewarded with excellent prices and excellent service. However, stateside I have dealt a number of times with KnifeSupply.com and I have been very pleased. They know how to treat Canadian customers well and are masters at having their shipments just sail through Customs. Great bunch of people who I highly recommend.
