The blue Manix that will be coming with the flat ground S30V blade and skeletonized liners that greatly reduce the weight.
An extra large Lum Chinese folder with a “peel ply” carbon fiber handle which has a very smooth finish and VG10 steel blades.

I am going to assume it is on the E3 handle, but that is just an assumption as that is what the original was based on.JLS wrote:Anyone know if the Matriarch is based on the E3 or E4 handle? I believe what they're calling red is something more like burgundy (ala ZDP Caly Jr & Goddard sprints), as red red is reserved for trainers.Kenix wrote:Call me a simpleton, but I'm most excited for a red FRN FFG Delica :D

I'm an admirer of Spyderco's designs. Using them is like immersing yourself in music or studying a painting in a museum. I buy some "fine" art but my preference is for usable art.
I will likely take a pass then. Like the blue G10 but the light weight of the S90V/CF model made it feel too light for my tastes. I actually prefer the heft of the "regular" Manix 2.catamount wrote:A lot in that report...
Looks like the Blue Manix 2 will have skeletonized liners.
That and as much as the forum in general seems to be bonkers for full flat grinds, I think the hollow grind is more appropriate for a stout user like the Manix 2. I've never understood why sheer slicing ability is valued over all-around versatility and strength.

Sal was talking over on USN and said the E4 handle would make it too expensive as they would have to redesign it.JLS wrote:Anyone know if the Matriarch is based on the E3 or E4 handle? E3 will work nice though. Cheap and light is a good combo :)

Since I learned the difference between a knife and a crowbar, I've wondered why makers still use saber grind.Firebat wrote:I will likely take a pass then. Full flat for general use, full hollow for light duty, saber for paperweight. Just my opinion, YMMV.
I don't believe in safe queens, only in pre-need replacements.
