I want to apologize to Sal, company and forum members

#1

Post by BBQ BOY »

About 1 or so months ago I started a thread titled,"Ever get bored with Spyderco?"
I want to take the time to say I apologize if I insulted Sal, the Spyderco company and any forum member here. The reason why is because I must have been off my rocker. I have found such an immense amount of excitement for the company. I have bought several more Spydercos and have a Gayle Bradley on the way. I don't know what it is about the company but for I love the fact that it is American based company and 2 after really studying their design and intuiteness I am impressed. I took a leave of absence from Spyderco for a long long time and just assumed by looking at them they hadn't changed. Well I made that assumption before actually using and studying them. I didn't think they were breaking molds. I have had my ParaMilitary for a long time now and it has been the best tool I have.
Just recently I purchased some Benchmades and even received some and other knives as Christmas gifts. To make a long story short I returned those knives. I am not saying that there is anything wrong with Benchmade but Spyderco is the best thing going right now in innovation, design and quality. Not to mention a great value.
So Sal, please forgive me.

I can't say I was offended at all. Everyone gets that feeling now and then. Eat steak every day and a hot dog might be awesome for a short while. You'll go back to steak :)

I think that Sal is pretty tough skinned, so he's had much worse criticism to deal with than some impartial feelings being aired here.
...oh you know why!

glad to see you're enjoying your spydies so much, BBQBoy! i wasn't offended, although the idea of being "bored with spydies" seemed pretty foreign to me... ;)

Hi BBQ Boy.

No problem on my end. No insult thought. No apology necessary.

I hope we can continue to create designs and models that catch your interest and please your discriminating nature.

No need to be sorry. It's all about what your interested in. If you've bought all the Spydies that you are personally interested in, then yes, you would be bored with them. I started a post called Dirty Little Secrets a while ago about what Spyderco designs you did not like. I make not apologies for that post, I think it was good because it showed how diverse we are in what we like. I think that secretly this forum is a little bit of a goldmine for Sal and gang. It provides them with valuable insight in to what the end user wants. That can be either positive or negative insight and I bet they appreciate either one.

BBQ Boy,

I don't think any apology is need. I really like the steak analogy above LOL :p We all need a bit of variety now and again, and sometimes a change is as good as a holiday. And it also sometimes takes an absence away from something for you to truly appreciate what you are missing.

I bought a custom FB chopper last month, but made up for it by buying about 2 or 3 dozen Spydies in 2009 :D In addition I have also passed on the Spydie virus to about a dozen other people throughout 2009 :D

My only gripe with Spyderco? too many great knives and not enough pockets... Seriously would have loved a Gayle Bradley, but with a Manix 2 S90V in my pocket, Military's in BG42, S90V and D2 (not bragging, just saying so many choices!!!) and Stretch's in FRN and CF, and on and on... I gotta put things in perspective! Enough for me at the moment

Well at least till the Ti Millies come in! LOL

Thanks alot Sal!!!

You sometimes get used to things. I did 3 sports cars and then dove/restored a 73 Bronco. I missed fuel injection after day 2. Haha.

Short response: agreed!

I bought a few of Chad's designs with Boker :) as well as a few Kershaws. These were a departure for me, but I found myself going back to Spydercos on the most part. It's nice to vary up the EDCs every once in awhile.

I have more Benchmades than Spydercos (I started with BM) but my Spydie collection is growing rapidly ....... any knife that Spydie makes with a Frame , ball or Liner lock I have basically ....... or mainly newer so called super steel knives.
I would love to see a ZDP Mili , but realize that that would be hard for them to do , seeings how Japan wont export there steel , I was told .....
Maybe some day .... one can hope .............
The Gayle Bradley is an awsum knife , Ive run amok on that one and got three of them , cant help it ......... its crazy ........... dj
