Spyderco always tries our best to "make it right". I'm sure we'll cover those costs.SmoothOne25 wrote:i dont know firebat said that. btw while i have you here does it cost money to get the logo engraved on gbf? obviously s/h we will pay but since it was an error will it be "covered" by the warranty or paid by spy? thanx sal. i am saving one and sending one to get the logo so i have both

I stand chastised by members who have taken time to respond to my INITIAL REACTION to differences I first noticed between the Tenacious and The Dragonfly. I was too influenced by the differences in HEFT. I thank members of this Forum for sharing their wisdom and experience with a 75-year-old newbie who is not too old to learn from second and third looks and greater reflection. [I can see the Dragonfly with more appreciation now, but I should have bought it in foliage green.]
I hope you don't see yourself as "chastised".mgebhard wrote:I stand chastised by members who have taken time to respond to my INITIAL REACTION to differences I first noticed between the Tenacious and The Dragonfly. I think most people assumed you meant the MSRP system needs a overhaul because you were disappointed. Being as the Dragonfly is a huge seller some people like it quite a bit. Most of those also own a Tenacious and were willing to share their opinions. Opinions are like noses as they say. :) I think there was just a confusion of tone and intent is all.
I normally carry a large folder and a small one on me. The Dragonfly is one of the best "Little Big Knives" in it's weight class. It would be a good teammate to the Tenacious in your coin pocket or back pocket. Then you always have something discrete to use at work and something large for bigger/less delicate jobs.
Welcome to the forum. The nice thing here is most the time when people ask valid questions like yours the founder of the company chimes in with answers. :D
The only problem is that S30v is a US steel. The most cost effective way to have this done is to ship it to China but then it's being used for a "price point" knife. Would people buy a Tenacious for substantially more money? Has the 8Cr13Mov been sufficient for nearly everyone? They ship S30v to Taiwan for the Sage and Bob T (and actually Cat & Chicago) but it's not about cost savings.addylo wrote:Now if we could just talk Sal into doing a sprint run of Tenacious with S30V (or better). :D
I'd be all over that!
The most cost effective way to go is to see if Spyderco upgrades the Byrd steel line to something a bit more exotic or they do a sprint Tenacious in a high-end Chinese steel. It would save shipping and only increase the cost marginally (one would think). Perhaps 9Cr18Mo.
Who knows though? If they did S30v I wouldn't argue and would be all over it. :)
My guess it was a metaphoric adjective. Most of us don't test knives via H.E. charges.SmoothOne25 wrote:not to derail but "bomb proof"? wtf? you serious?
Was this a rhetoric question?
Welcome to the forum mgebhard. One thing about the white FRN D'fly you have is that you can RIT dye it to whatever color you want. Do a search here in the forum and you can see what some of our fellow enthusiasts have done with White FRN. Foliage Green or Kelly Green is within your reach and it could be fun to boot. :cool:mgebhard wrote:[I can see the Dragonfly with more appreciation now, but I should have bought it in foliage green.]
You can't display a toad in a fine restaurant like this! Why, the good folks here would go right off the feed!
Good to have another retiree on board. Funny that you mention the new G-10 foliage green dragonfly, because when it came out I was surprised that its price wa more than I expected. I have an old SS ATS-55 dragonfly and will eventually get the new FG one. One reason I was surprised at your initial post is because, at Poorfish, for instance, the Tenacious is $34 and the white FRN Dragonfly is $30. It's easy to pigeonhole a newbe based on experience with other similar first posts, so I'm sorry for any overreaction on our part.mgebhard wrote:I stand chastised by members who have taken time to respond to my INITIAL REACTION to differences I first noticed between the Tenacious and The Dragonfly. Our reason is quite satisfied, in 999 cases out of every 1000 of us, if we can find a few arguments that will do to recite in case our credulity is criticized by someone else. Our faith is faith in someone else's faith, and in the greatest matters this is most the case.
