Chinese Lum blade swap

#1

Post by Spyharpy »

I'm have three Chinese Lums, one in blue, green and black ZDP-189. I'm not a fan of the foliage green but I do like the black blade that's available with it. I was thinking of of buying one and swapping the blade so my black Lum would have a black blade. I haven't read about anyone doing this kind of swap on a Lum but I'm seriously considering it. Has anyone swapped blades on a Lum?

Hi everyone!
My first post on this forum but I have been around for a while now....

I have swapped blades on Chinese folders just a few days ago and also took some photos of them but they are not with me at this time ...I should post some in a few days

Black VG-10 blade on black handle(from ZDP version) looks better than you could even think ...If there would be black hardware avaliable in any of the versions that would be another ++

Wow! Thanks for posting pics. I'm just going to have to get a few of each and do the swap. Should be no problem selling *rare* foliage green ZDP-189 Lums. :D

I've previously nay-sayed the black blade on the Chinese Folder as not becoming a gentleman's folder. But the black on black is striking. That is the nicest looking Chinese Folder I have ever seen. I have two ZDPs, an original green, and a new foliage green with a satin blade. If Spyderco did a Sprint Run of Black/Black Chinese Folders, I would buy two of them and I'd edc one of them immediately.

Congratulations. That is beautiful.

There's a seller on eBay currently offering the foliage green Lum with black blade for $80 (10 quantity available as of this writing). I'd like to make more of the black bladed Lums but finding more black ZDP-189 Lums for a reasonable price is a challenge at this time. I may pick up a few of the black bladed Lums and wait until some black ZDP-189s surface later.
