How many of you would want to get your hands on a Catcherman with an H-1 blade?
I have always liked the idea of the Catcherman, but lost my old one. Now that H-1 has proven itself so admirably, I would think that a re-release of the Catcherman in this steel would be an outstanding idea.
Perhaps Orange FRN + H1???

Hey buddy I'll say AMEN loud enough to hear it a mile away. I've been suggesting an H-1 CAtcherman for some time now. I just used my AUS-8 Catcherman last night cutting up some veggies for a salad and I'm constantly on the lookout for another fully serrated Catcherman as well as a couple more of the MBS-26 combo edged versions.
That Catcherman is so versatile in it's wide array of culinary uses that I would have to write a whole chapter just on what I've used my 2 Catcherman models on this year. I also love the Catcherman when cutting up deer meat at a camp. It's a fisherman's dream and I can't see anything on the market at this time that would give serious competition to the original Catcherman design.
It's like that quote of Sal Glesser's that says you have to use the knife to understand the spirit of the design. Unfortunately I've only spoken to about 5 to 6 people that have ever put one to serious use.
I have no doubt that an H-1 Catcherman would be the "Cat's Meow". I also would like to see a larger version with like a 7 to 8 inch blade in a folder.
The older models NOT being H1 is what has always held me back from buying a few. Like you guys, I'd be all over this one (in multiples) if available in H1.

6-7" blade for me -- but yeah, I hope it happens someday!

That depends on what you want from a fillet knife -- probably like you, I grew up using flexible blades that were soft and needed frequent resharpening. I have since met meny others who prefer a siffer and harder blade. I have used a BRKT Canadian Sportsman for a few years now and I love it. I originally thought it too should be flexible, but I got used to it. I still have a rubber-like-handled Normark folding fillet knife, a large rosewood-handled Opinel, and a Queen "Big Chief" sries folder -- all as folding backup fillet knives. A H-1 Catcherman would force all into "retirement" and become my main canoeing/backpacking fillet knife.

Yeah, H1 would be good. There is actually a shop that has an old Catcherman in their display and I've been tempted to buy it, it is a really versatile looking knife. Unfortunately he wants more than $190 (Aust), which is just way too much.

I never could figure out why Spyderco abandoned the original yellow handled Catcherman  I've looked long and hard for a used, fully serrated yellow handled Catcherman for my tackle box but those puppies are hard to find.
Yeah I would also love another yellow handled Catcherman and it would truly be apropos with H-1 blade steel.
And quite frankly I don't care if the H-1 Catcherman would have a stiff blade. The United Cutlery fillet knife I currently use a lot for food chores has a stiff blade and I find it quite nice for several cutting jobs.
It's time for the Catcherman with an H-1 blade to make a comeback.
