I was never big on hawkbills, just never took the time to try them. However, I was Christmas shopping for a knife friend and found a great deal on a Harpy (a second from the SFO) via KnifeBST [thanks Jim!].
I could not believe what I was missing out on. Upon opening up the Harpy and playing with it (ahem...I mean ensuring it would be a good gift) I absolutely get the hawkbill now. I also loved the handle lines of the Harpy and for SS it felt lighter than my SS Delica. Let me tell you, the guy getting this thing is lucky he is a good friend or I would have a new present.
In fact my next Spydie I hope to be a Tasman.
P.S. For a factory second this thing was darn near perfect, just a litttle and I mean little play.
I get it...now I get it

+1 Definitely try and snag one of these before getting a Tasman. You may never be able to get CF, FFG VG-10 and comp lock for the prices they are going for EVER AGAIN! DO IT! DOOO EEEEETTTTT!!!!! :DJNewell wrote:What you need to do next (I am beating Blerv to the punch) is order the now-discontinued Superhawk while you can still find it for around $100. It is a steal at that price and they are not going to last indefinitely.
I'm not sure there has ever been or will ever be such a Jekyll and Hyde knife in the Spyderco lineup. On one hand it is incredibly refined and classy, but at the same time is big, beefy and all business. A true must have for any hawkbill and/or :spyder: fan.
I prefer to ask for forgiveness rather than permission.

My Tasman came yesterday along with my pacific, had a play and this beauty is great - the Tasman is perfect size and shape for my needs at this time of year and is in pocket ready for work this morning.AH2525 wrote:In fact my next Spydie I hope to be a Tasman.
I can already see myself loving the H1 and hawkbills
