Forum's best - RIT Dye - Pics

#1

Post by Crocodilo »

This is what makes these forums so special: a few days ago I was commenting on a post about RIT dyes, how I'd love to blacken my Endura 4 Wave, and how this dye brand is not available in my country. Within minutes, forum member Monkeywrangler was PM'ing me asking for my address, and he just sent me a packet of black dye!

Well, Monkeywrangler, it got here in today's mail, and my after dinner project went perfectly: my very own and very black E4W, over which I had spent so many hours changing the saber grind to a full convex is now complete. And what a beauty she is!

The dyeing process was fast and painless, results were great, and putting everything toguether was a breeze using the "Delica Lego" method. Only quirk was that the backspacer that appeared to be black (and therefore didn't go into the pot), was indeed a deeper blue than the scales. One of these days I'll get to it, probably when I use the remaining black dye to blacken a yellow Tasman Salt that's inbound.

So, thank you very much! To Spyderco, for making such a great knife, to the forum, for sharing these ideas, to the tutor of how to assemble an Endura 4 (don't recall his name), and to Monkeywrangler, for his generous spirit.

Yep. This forum has the best people of any forum I'm ever been on.

Heck, Sal himself even replied to my very first thread here. A dude by the name of yablanowitz was a massive help, answering my truckload of questions about how thin to have Tom Krein regrind my ZDP Endura. Yep. Best forum ever. :)
God Bless Texas!

The Tasman has arrived and immediately jumped into the remaining dye. The Endura took the chance and went in also, for the spacer that had been left behind. Here are the pics:
