Got my Street Beat a couple weeks ago. When I am not using it, I keep it in the sheath. I noticed that the sheath has gotten looser, but not enough to rattle. I actually prefer the tighter feel from when I first got it.
Is it not good to keep it in the sheath when not in use?

If it's like mine, the sharpness of the front corners of the finger choil have been carving tiny slivers off of the sheath mouth and pinch points as you have drawn your knife. Mine stopped doing this pretty quickly and I actually chopped the top 3/8" off of my sheath with a band saw and re-rounded the corners with a bench grinder so I could get a better grip of the knife during the draw.
No real reduction in security from any of this, btw. I can pick up the knife while it's in the sheath and really give it a good swinging around without the knife falling out.
Hope this helps you feel better about buying one of Spyderco's best knives.

On a properly made and fitted sheath I can't see it making any difference if you leave the knife out of it for storage. Sheaths will smooth out with use, the draw may become easier, but that doesn't necessarily mean it has become loose so as to legitimately affect overall retention. Was there was any point where the sheath got left out in the sun or exposed to some other source of heat that may have slightly alterered its shape?
