Fun Day - Lots of Spyderco Fondling & a Score!

So I got kicked out of the house today while my wife hosted a baby shower and my daughter was at baton practice. Hmmm, what to do, what to do? So I decided to drive down to a gun and knife store about 30 minutes from my house where I had seen some long discontinued Spydies a few months back. My main goal was the Meerkat with the reverse S blade and it was still there. So it came home with me...along with an orange Ladybug. :D

But, they had so many awesome knives there and the sales guy had no problem hanging out and letting my handle all the knives I wanted. Like all the Urbans and UKPK's, a Viele 2 (SWEET!!), mutiple ATR's, a Salsa, the Jumpmaster (AWESOME!!), Scorpius, Native 4, G-10 Dragonfly and the most surprising of them all, the Chokwe. That one has just never really grabbed my attention, but after handling it for a bit all I can say is, I will probably end up with one at some point.

Also for anyone interested, they have a forum Native (CC # 022) and they are asking $100.00 for it. I got mine, so didn't need another one but for that price, I was very tempted. If anyone is interested PM me and I will give their number.

By the way, the little Meerkat is one cool knife! The Phantom lock is so slick and I love the reverse S blade shape too! This one will surely see some pocket time. Oh yeah, both my wife and daughter now NEED a ladybug. :)

Do they have anymore meerkats. I want one just for the lock mechanism i have to try it out. Also are the prices pretty fair on the ATRs and the viele?

Billy, you're in South Florida?

Would you mind sharing the name of the store? I'd like to check it out. Never really heard of a gun shop that had that much selection before--and the ones that do, usually charge like MSRPx1.5!

Jazz - Yes I will get some pics up by the weekend of the Meerkat.

VashHash - Considering you can't find the ATR's (especially a PE) or Viele II anywhere I think they were reasonable. IIRC, the Viele was around $165 (so tempted to go back and snag that one) and the ATR's were between $160 and $200 (don't hold me to that though). I don't believe they have any more Meerkats.

peacefuljeffrey - Where are you in South Florida? The store is Arizona Shooting Range and Emporium in Fort Lauderdale (gunsandknives.com). Not only do they have the Spydies, but LOTS of other brands that I don't usually see. Pricing didn't seem too bad for a B&M store. An example of a good price is the Meerkat I bought for $51.00 and an example of a bad price would be the BG-42 Millie they were asking like $250.00 for (I picked mine up a couple of years ago for $165.00).

Oh almost forgot to mention they also have a blue Native III in stock and a bunch of older Kopas and a few Kiwis, but I didn't check the price on them. :o

Thanks, Billy! That's a cute little knife. I handled one a couple of years ago, but forgot what it looked like. I wonder if my dealer still has one in his display case.

- best wishes, Jazz.
