Motor Racing, Spyder Style

G'day All

Each October down here is Oz, we have a motor race called the Bathurst 1000 which is sort of the Australian equivalent of the Daytona 500. Its a 1000km race at the Mount Panorama circuit in Bathrust NSW traditionally between Ford and Holden V8 racecars.

Well, Fred and Diego had been glued to the TV watching the coverage of the Bathurst 1000 and they were eagerly waiting for me to go to work on the day of the race (Sunday 11th October) so they could take over my TV room and watch the whole race.

There were mutterings about wanting to go 'racing' the day before the race, I said they weren't going anywhere, let alone a race track, so they'd have to figure out something round the house. They both disappeared into the workshop for a while and then I was dragged outside as they were going to do what I sugggested: 'race around the house'

The technical and mechanical skills really arn't there but you have to admire their imagination:

Fred on the left in the 3M racing box and Diego on the right in the Polyfilla racing box. Note the headlights fitted if conditions deteriorate. Motive power is provided by an SL8 (Spyder Legs x 8) power plant. :D

They both shot off on their lap around the house and, after about 5 minutes, they reappeared on the front straight:

Fred is in the lead but Diego is moving up:

Oh no, Diego's got tangled up with Fred......

Diego has flipped and Fred is in the wall.... Don't worry, the rescue crew is on it's way to get the drivers out....

Image
That's the rescue crew...... Boris the Barkie Bug with a Bark River Knife.....

After Fred and Diego got out of their 'racing boxes', which happened **** quick when they saw Boris heading towards them with his knife to rescue them, the race was declared a tie so both 'drivers' got a prize:

Fred and Diego were cured of their desire to go racing and were quite happy to just watch the racing. They did have a small problem though cause I stole the antenna to take to work so I could watch the race! :p

LOL. Thanks for that.

Echo: Boris has been lurking around for a while, he doesn't show up much with Fred as Boris doesn't like Spydies as much as he likes Bark River knives. Boris (full name: Boris Bernard Beauregard the Barkie Bug) is the 'bug' that bites and starts the addiction to Bark River Knives.

Diego has only recently moved in, have a look here: http://spyderco.com/forums/showthread.php?t=39469 to see his origins :D
