I think I've seen one at my local army surplus store for about $45 or $50. I didn't get it, though; not sure if it's still there.

I see the saw advertised for $40 at LA Police Gear. However, the domestic shipping, via UPS, is $10.49 for me. Never bot from LAPG so don't know their inventory habits, whether they actually have the saw or not.

I often see inexpensive gear that becomes regularly priced once you add the shipping/handling costs.

A great place to buy is at the shows. I'm attending Blade West in a couple weeks and I'll buying if I find what I want there (I always find something hard to resist).

I have usually had good experiences with them. Always a discount code out there. Just last month they had a 15% off EVERYTHING sale. Sadly it has expired.

I've used mine a few times, and it is an amazing 3oz cutting tool. Works well for precise cutting, small branches, or, in my case, breaking down an old couch.

I keep mine in my Emergency/Earthquake Kit (EEK! for short) as a compliment to "the pocket chainsaw" for larger wood.

I've wanted a Spydie Saw for a while now. I would put it to use quite a bit. Too bad they are discontinued. I did a quick search and 'saw' it at one place for $26.99. I haven't inquired if they are in stock though.

Mark, is the pocket chainsaw anything like a Newfie chainsaw?

I really need a Spydersaw for some gardening and some camping chores. I'd love to see a sprint run in a new steel, maybe H1.

Angus, nice picture of the Newfie chainsaw. Is that a spark plug on the handle? LOL :D

I thought about getting one of the Spydersaws but never did. How about a fully serrated Cara Cara? The serrations are not the same but it's cheap with a decent length blade.

What is that thing?

No, the pocket chainsaw is basically a chainsaw blade with two handles, used like a giant SAS wire saw. They have videos of it cutting through a 4" wide tree in 10 seconds!

As for using a SE knife, no, that will totally suck, and not in a good way. The Scallops will be rolled/destroyed within minutes, rendering it useless. The spydersaw is an actual saw blade, and that's what is required.

That's a picture of a Newfie chainsaw :D Years ago there was a Newfie living across the road from me. He had an old bow saw. He removed the blade and put a chain on it. That was his Newfie chain saw.

Ok, I got it now Mark. I have something similar to that but for ABS/PVC pipe. It's great for tight spots.

The sprint run in H1 sounds like a great idea for the Spydie Saw.
