Would SFO still have Pivot/screw for Caly 3?

#1

Post by STi »

My PE caly 3 had alittle side to side play so i tightened the Pivot screw and there was a good amount of red loctite and slightly stripped the screw..It's not bad but doesen't look that great...So i was wondering if SFO sells the screws/pivots for these as i would like to buy a few!

You should give them a call or email. Contact info here.
I tried adjusting the screw on my Caly3 as well and the same thing happened to mine. I just learned to ignore it since it's a user and is going to get beat up anyway.

Great Thanks! This is my EDC as well and thought about forgetting about it but if i can get back ups might as well do it now.

It still has some slight play but afraid to apply more pressure and ruin screw further.

My CF Caly 3 came like yours and had a burrs that sliced me open. I emailed Spyderco about a new pivot screw and they said they didn't keep any screws for their overseas models other than clip replacement kits. :(

Good thing i didn't apply more pressure! Someone must know thread size for local or online hardware replacement?

A word of caution:

I just ordered a replacement clip for my CF Caly3 from the factory and it came with the associated screw (about $8ish incl usps). When I went to attach it to my knife, the NEW male screw was too short! Fortunately, I only needed the new clip and I just used the original screws.

Just have them double check the screws since that seems to be what you need.

Cheers,
Hector

I realize you need the pivot screw for the blade, but Paul @ Spyderco should be able to help (800/525-7770)

I just got an Email from Spyderco and looks as if Jim was right!

"Jamie,

Sorry we do not manufacture that knife here and other than clips and clips screws we do not carry parts for that knife here in Golden. When a knife is send in & covered under warranty the knives are replaced."

Kind regards

You should be using the blue loctite
We would rather be the knife in your pocket, because is "works" better, than the knife in your showcase, because it "looks" better.

I didn't use any loctite at all...The red loctite was from Spyderco.

STI, hope you don't mind if I print this off and show it to my wife, just let her know it does actually happen. :D

P.s. I took the liberty to put it in bold as I feel it strengthens my case. :p

Thanks
