Disassemly does void the warranty. The exception to this under certain circumstances would be the new Endura 4 and Delica 4, they were intentionally designed to be taken apart for maintenance. However, if an ELU takes them apart and then cannot correctly re-assemble them, it's not a warranty issue if it's sent in to us. It's a repair.

FRN Stretch question
FRN Stretch question
Stretch FRN is build like Endura/Delica 4. Can you disassemble Stretch without voiding warranty (like E4/D4)?

Qualified yes. As you noted, it is all screw construction, so disassembly is possible. If you can take it apart and put it back together without damaging anything, you would not void the warranty. On the other hand, any damage you may cause would not be covered.greg.es wrote:Stretch FRN is build like Endura/Delica 4. Can you disassemble Stretch without voiding warranty (like E4/D4)?
Keep in mind that Spyderco sells rebuild kits for the Delica and Endura not because the knives wear out or break by themselves, but because too many people who lack the skill to put one back together take them apart. At present, no such safety net exists for the FRN Stretch.
Personally, the only time I'd consider taking one apart would be if I'd gotten sand in it, or something similar. Even then, I'd try just loosening both pivots, spreading the scales a bit, and flushing things out before I tore it down. Among other things, I've built HO scale model steam locomotives from kits, so I'm reasonably competent with a screwdriver. I would not hesitate to buy an FRN Stretch in kit form, but otherwise, if I ain't broke, my fingers stay out of it.
