Hawkbill ftw

Post by yowzer »

Today was spent on a SAR mission, looking for the remains of someone who hadn't been seen for a month. Lots of blackberries, devils club, and suchlike to wade through. I'm scratched all to heck even through my clothes.

I pulled out my Tasman Salt every few minutes to help clear a path. It ate through all but the biggest blackberry vines like a hot, uh, knife through butter.

I really want the Spyderhawk H1 now! Even those big brambles probably wouldn't slow it down. Who needs a machete when you have a hawk? :D

I hear ya! A very large clump of vines fell down in my back yard during Hurricane Ike. The next day, I was out there with my Tasman, and had cut through all 2-3 feet (widthwise) of the vines in a couple-or-three minutes. Now, if only I had access to an H-1 Spyderhawk!
God Bless Texas!

i use my rock salt to harvest devils club (for beads), but even with that big ol' knife, am EXTREMELY carefully.

devils club... maybe a great use for an H1 spyderhawk... ???

Oh, yes. Thick heavy leather gloves. That's some nasty stuff. Tried to stay away from it as much as possible...

....I too used my trusty serrated Tasman to clear a trail through blackberries, vines, and small bushes to get to some downed trees to cut for firewood. The knife grabbed onto, then sliced through whatever came its way. I know the true meaning of "bushwhacking".
