I had a Casio once, with a digital display at the bottom. After more years than I can remember, the display got all f-ed up. I really liked that Casio. But now I can't stand digital watches. Still, from what I've heard, G-shocks are as good as they get for a digital watch.

Got something similar a few months back
I'm always smacking my watches on doorways, hallways and staircases...kids at school used to call me Grover because of my flailing arms
They're a great watch with a tonne of features I'll never use except for 1...they're tough. I take mine out Yak fishing and spends a lot of time submerged in seawater and coping some pretty big 'whacks'.
P.S.
and it's so light you bearly know it's on your arm.
You'll be happy with your G-shock.. especially at that price!

I love the dual digital and analog display on my g-100. I set the digital to the actual time (as per nist.gov update on my laptop) and the analog to the work clock.
it's been smacked into countless doorframes, desks, carts... electrocuted (household 110v), dropped, stepped on. Like I said it doesn't die. Money well spent.

I have a couple, they can't be beat. Mine hold up to abuse much better than Timex and others.
Here is a good older thread on them.

I have two G-Shocks that are just really durable, as others here have mentioned.
I'm not sure which model the first one is, but my other model is a "Frogman", and I love it! Solar powered, so I'll never sweat the battery thing again.
My only complaint about my Frogman is that, while swinging my arm, I managed to bang the crystal into the corner of a concrete railing, and that dang concrete corner scratched the crystal. I tried to have it polished out, but no dice there.
Honestly, it's not a complaint against the watch; that blow would have messed up most watches.
I beat the **** out of them, and they never fail me. If you want a durable watch, G-Shocks are top of the line.
Jay, I'm really diggin' that Pathfinder!

Just got this one on friday in red.

3 dials that spin rather than a hand going around, took some getting used to but it's easy to glance at now.

Now that's a cool watch VW... very minimalist!
Now I know this is getting off track...but being quite prudish I feel a watch is the only piece of jewelry a man should wear (other than a wedding band). As a result, this 1 piece of jewelry should say something about a person... and I think it does.
Now while I can't afford them (read, "justify one") I'd love an URWERK or even a SUUNTO.

My 'good' watch is a Citizen Nighthawk...I ony managed to get it ecause it was on eBay for 1/4 the price of store-bought piece.

As a little social experiment, I'd be interested to see what you guys have on your cool watch 'dream list'?... and to see some that have slipped under my radar!

I'd like to get a nice Citizen Eco-Drive someday soon. (Mainly since I'd never have to change batteries ever again). Do they keep time as well as a watch with quartz movement?Clawhammer wrote: As a little social experiment, I'd be interested to see what you guys have on your cool watch 'dream list'?... and to see some that have slipped under my radar!
And perhaps a classy-looking dual time-zone watch.

Mine's 'eco-drive' i.e. solar powered...not kinetic...but even if you don't 'wind' the kinetic's for a few days there's an internal solar battery to check passively how much time has passed since the hands stop....
when you then shake the watch and wind the spring...the hands speedily spin around and around, setting the date setting until the present time is reached...absolutely amazing.

I've been wanting a citizen eco-drive for a long time, but they aren't coming on sale here (just about the only thing that's not).
My Skagen is currently the good watch in my collection (yes, I've got a box of at least a dozen watches, and 4 that get rotated :eek :) . Until I get a pic of mine, here's the closest they currently have on the page.

I found a while ago that the minimalist designs look best. Far easier to focus on making one or two things look great than cramming 6-7 options in to make you buy it (ooo... this one has a compass :rolleyes :) .
I've got to find a quality trustworthy shop here to fix my Dax. Not many places specializing in pocket watches any more, and I'm not about to hand a 75 year old watch to someone that doesn't have experience with them.
