Can you freakin read my mind?
I was just thinking about getting a perrin knife, but i was kinda befuddled by the small size of the one that's made now.
Make a larger one! Do it! Do it! Do it!

Anyone contact Sal about this???
It's been a month since anyone added to this topic, but like everyone has said, it seems to be in demand!
Does anyone have a way to contact Sal and see if his people are up for it????
The partial tang is one of the reasons I DIDN'T get a Street Bowie in the first run!
I would probably buy more than one if they made a full tang version a la the Street Beat.
Anyone else out there jonesing for the full tang Street Bowie???

Hi Vanguard.45,
Welcome to the Spyderco forum. Thanx for visiting.
I usually pay attention to threads on the forum. As Deacon mentioned, often the costs and demand fight. In this case, it would be an expensive knife that translates to fewer customers. We just "hide-n'-watch" the threads.
Nothing is impossible. We've built quite a few models that were requested by "afi" customers (aficianado). We got a short run coming in an H1 Spyderhawk and a Ladybug3 hawkbill.
Sometimes the limitation is cost, sometimes it's a small customer base for a blade shape like a hawkbill.

Thanks for the reply, Sal
I am certainly not trying to tell you how to run your business, because it is quite apparent you have that under control! Thanks for what you do and for how you do it!
I guess I was a bit leery of the "partial tang" of the first version of the Perrin Street Bowie. I wasn't quite sure just how "partial" it was (what is the truth?), but I have always preferred the full tang knives.
Your Street Beat seems to be selling well, and I am quite sure those who bought the smaller one would welcome the opportunity to give their blade a matching "big brother." Just a thought.
There are quite a few people who work in my agency toting the Street Beat daily and they love the knife. Some, though, have stated how great it would be to have a larger version. Being rather recent to the blade game, they were not even aware of the earlier Street Bowie and were excited to hear of it until they found it was both discontinued and SCARCE! Such is life!
Thanks again, Sal, for your time and amazing products/ service!

We're working on one.LorenzoL wrote:Sal, talking of hawks, would it be possible to put a more traditional blade in a Superhawk handle? I mean, technically, could it be done? Love the scales and the comp lock, but the hawkbill is not really a multi-purpose shape, is it?
Hey Vanguard,
We always appreciate input. I can speak with the maker about a Perrin Bowie proto in micarta. These are tough times and they might be interested in a short run. We probably wouldn't want to make more than 300-400.

Thanks for inquiring about it to the maker, Sal
If they do a run, count me in. If not, no worries.
Either way, you're a class act!

Hi Sal,
a run of Perrin Bowies in micarta would be wonderful! :)
I am sure, they will sell out VERY quickly. :D
I once owned :o the original one and therefore can testify that this knife really rocks!
Currently the Street Beat (nearly) fills the gap.
Count me in for at least two :spyder: Perrin Bowies in micarta.
All the best for you,
Manfred

Sal,
I think a Micarta Perrin Bowie would be great. It would be good to have a matching big brother for my Street Beat. I do have concerns however that a small run of 300 - 400 would only leave 100 - 200 for us regular buyers after the 200 assigned to the Spyderco Collectors are subtracted. It seems like it might be pretty hard to get one but if I could I would definitely buy one.
Thanks for considering it,
G3

Quick question about the older model Street Bowie for Sal
Exactly how much of a tang did the older model have?
I have read online everything from 1/3 to 3/4.
What is the truth?
Sorry to slow the flow regarding the potentially awesome selling micarta Street Bowie, but it would be good to get some truth from da man!
If anyone had any pics of an older model "de-handled" prior to some sort of upgrade, that would be helpful, of course.
Thanks, and back to the wishing!

A micarta version of the Stree Bowie would be considered a variant of the original. There are probably less than 100 "all variant" members in the Collectors Club and some of those are accounts owned by dealers expressly to insure having a few pieces of Sprint Runs.g3 wrote:Sal,

Well good that increases my chances of being able to get one. I really hope that Spyderco makes the Micarta Street Bowie, it would be a beautiful knife.A micarta version of the Stree Bowie would be considered a variant of the original. Any ideas of the original Street Bowie's Tang length?
Still jonesing for the micarta handled full tang one, but wondered what the original tang length was????
Sal, thanks for checking for us!
Were almost to the point of semi custom Spyderco's here.
And that makes me smile.
I would like to see a sticky thread for all the new/short runs/ possible knifes.
I remember reading about a Ladybug Hawkbill but had no idea it was being made.
Its not easy to keep up here on all the new products.
How about a sticky thread about knifes in the pipeline?
I know dates are impossible, but how about a list of what's to come?
Thanks again
