These should be some great ones. I really like my Stretch CF, the ergos are excellent and the blade geometry is excellent. This knife and my Superhawk have been hogging up my front pockets, and it seems most all of my other knives will be on back pocket duty, as these two knives are about as good as it gets in all around EDC folders. If it wasn't for the deal I got on my Stretch CF I was definately going to pick up an FRN Stretch ZDP, and I highly doubt I would miss the CF, though I must admit the CF is nice.

As alexcue said, the FRN Stretch II will be offered in both VG-10 and ZDP-189.sixheads wrote:Hi guy and gals,
Question , whats the tip like on the frn stretch? and what will the blade material be. With all the great reviews (Thank you Deacon) and hype i am very interested.

As for the tip. While the Stretch is not the first knife I'd grab as a splinter picker but, it would be far from the worst choice. Like its predecessors, the FRN version has a relatively narrow, 3mm thick, spear point blade so I'd rate the tip as pointy enough to give excellent penetration without sacrificing strength.

If the FRN Stretch is like the Stretch CF it should be optional for all but the largest hands. I have large hands and find a choil free grip very comfortable and natural, just like the choked up grip on the feel is very comfortable and natural. The Stretch 2 is an excellent knife ergo-wise, and from the pics it looks like the handle length and shape are real close to the Stretch CF.losabio wrote:Is the choil area on the FRN Stretch "optional" like the Military, or is that pretty much the best way to hold the knife?

I only have my personal scale to go by and I know it reads a few grams light compared to Spyderco's scale.Spider bite wrote:How much does this stretch weigh?
By mine, the original Stretch weighs 124 grams, the CF Stretch II weighs 112 grams, and the FRN Stretch II weighs 96 grams. The Spyderco catalog lists the original at 128 grams and the CF Stretch II at 126 (which absolutely has to be wrong, am guessing it's suppose to read 116). Based on those, I'd guess the "official" weight of the FRN version at around 100 grams.
Am guessing that, while the smaller nested liners account for some of that difference, the FRN backspacer is responsible for a good part of it. Which makes me wonder if a CF backspacer for the CF version would be feasible. Or, for that matter, if one could swap the liners and scales from a CF Stretch onto an FRN one.
Aside from being a bit thicker, the FRN Stretch handle is identical in shape to the CF version's. I agree with your assessment...gunmike1 wrote:If the FRN Stretch is like the Stretch CF it should be optional for all but the largest hands. Thanks for the reassuring responses, Gents. The FRN Stretch looks great! The Deacon wrote: Aside from being a bit thicker, the FRN Stretch handle is identical in shape to the CF version's. I agree with your assessment...
