As far as I'm concerned this G10 development has got to be a good thing. With G10 scales people will actually use it, instead of hiding it away in their safe's wrapped in bubble wrap, never to be seen again.
Understandably some people might be concerned about the G10 scales compromising the Chinese' elegant appearance, perhaps something along the lines of polished G10 might keep everyone happy??
Anyway I know I will be definitely lining up for one!

Good on Ya Sal!

Well, looks like you got half your wish.

But at least it appears you're among those who are relieved that your intel was wrong.

High horses are very dangerous.
Can only speak for myself, but my opinions are just that - opinions. I never present them expecting the majority of other users to agree with me, I'm more likely to assume I represent a small demographic of no particular importance to Spyderco.

FWIW, I was quite surprised so many agreed with me on this. Those who favor the "tactical" look are normally in the majority here, so I generally present my views assuming they will be the "minority report". In this particular case, in light of a discussion Sal is engaged in on another forum, I felt questioning the wisdom of a change which might make reduce the "NKP friendliness" of the Chinese Folder had some validity. But I know that's of little consequence, since no matter what color or material is used, any Lum Chinese Sprint Run will sell out quickly.

I think, I am one of these "some".

Sure. I will buy Lum Chinese with C10, but I would enjoy polished G10(I would say any polished scales) much more.

My top choices Natives5, Calys, C83 Persian

If at all possible, a SS framelock coupled with a polished and "lightly rounded" dark blue G-10 scale would be awesome.

Micarta or G10 would be amazing for the Lum Chinese. Done up like the Kris or Persians is what I would like to see. With the Lum being a LL, construction should be like the Captain, Barong and Khukuri. Sign me up for any configuration, it's going to be classic. :D

Hmmm, I'm interested in how this will turn out. The knife will gain some width with G10 instead of the Almite correct? I'm all for G-10, I'm just not sure that I would put it on this particular knife. I don't mistrust your judgment though, I've done that before and was wrong....twice. The G-10 you guys use is by far the best in the industry, there's something different that I can feel, I'm not sure what it is exactly; but I know a spyderco G-10 just by the touch. Regardless, I'm in for one :)

As for the Chinese now, aren't you guys doing a sprint with a different color? I could have sworn I read something on Bladeforums a while back

EDIT: found it, its not what I thought though, its a Moteng version: http://spyderco.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38102

Hopefully not orange either. The Lum Chinese Folder isn't a rescue knife that needs to be bright so it can be seen if it falls into the water.
