perrin street beat

#1

Post by guitarguy »

i almost picked up a street beat this weekend.the ergonomics and looks of the knife are great. The only thing is when i grasp the handle my fingers stick out alot farther than the blade. Does anyone else have this problem or do i just have large hands?

I haven't had that problem, but my hands are relatively small...

The same scenario applies to the larger Perrin fixed blade but then again it couldn't be any different considering the handle is almost as broad as the blade..............

I have largish hands by the way............

i guess i would consider my hands to be average. Whatever that means. My only concern is that in a self defence situation that only a portion of the blade would be making effective cuts because my fingers would get in the way. I do like the deep finger choil over a guard. If i see a nice knife with a finger choil its like an addict to crack,i have to have it.im going to have to make a trip and handle the perrin a bit more.since i cant find a ronin or yojimbo anywhere this could be the next best thing.or something even better.

I don't quite understand your specific question, but I believe Fred designed the Street beat to be a small, easily packed fixed blade that is still quite capable. I have large hands as well, but the Street Beat works beautifully for me. My pinkie hangs off slightly, but that comes with small fixed blades.

the length of the grip is perfect. i guess it would be the depth? my knuckles extend past the blade. where on a fixed blade like the ronin, the knifes blade sticks out past my knuckles, meaning that the blade would impact before my knuckles do. with the street beat its the opposite

Oh, I see. Yeah, that pretty much comes with the Street Beat's handle design. Please don't let that stop you from getting it. It's an amazing little knife.
