I've been all over the internet and have spoken with many support peeps about this problem and have not been able to resolve my issue.... I was thinking if some of you work in computers (or even if you don't and you've experienced this yourself) you might say "I know exactly what the issue is and this is how you fix it!" So here goes:
I have an HP Compaq laptop. I connect to the internet wired most of the time when my laptop is on my docking station. When I undock, I autoconnect to my wireless connection without the power supply plugged in. So here is where the problem begins....once I'm at the point where I need to plug in my power (not the docking station) but just the power supply to the back of the laptop, I lose my wireless connection, every time. Sometimes it reconnects in a matter of seconds, which is not a big deal to me, but sometimes, it won't reconnect at all. I have tried repairing the connection, disabling and then enabling the connection and neither of those works in this situation. I have to log out and then log back in (not reboot, although that works too), THEN repair the wireless connection, viola, that fixes the issue. What be up wit that?! Seems like it shouldn't be that complicated. I don't remember when this started, but I don't recall it always being this way.
I've tried different power settings, wireless card setting etc....and am thinking it might be a driver issue?? If any of you have any ideas....all are welcome...thanks in advance. -- Have a great weekend.

I'm betting it's a driver issue, and/or a power setting issue. What happens if you tell your wireless card to not be allowed to be turned off by the computer to save power? Do you know how to get there to adjust that?
I would go into device manager and look at what kind of wireless network card you have and then go try to find a new driver from HP.
Here's how to get into Device Mangler:
1. Right click my computer and click on "manage".
2. Click "device manager".
Now expand the [+] beside your network adapters and find the wireless one.
Right click it and choose "properties". Click on the "driver" tab and look at the date and version. See if you can find a newer one at HP.com.
Let us know how it goes. :)
Cheers !

Hi David, thanks for the reply. Yes I do know how to get there and had already made that power setting change, to no avail. At your suggestion I collected the driver information and found that there was a newer version of the driver at the HP website. I downloaded and installed it (and made sure the new version was displaying in the properties...it was). I rebooted for the heck of it and then tested out my problem. The internet still disconnects when I plug in my powerDavid Lowry wrote:I'm betting it's a driver issue, and/or a power setting issue.
