Would a titanium Cricket be a good idea?

Over the years the Cricket has been offered in several handle materials, including stainless, FRN, almite and carbon fiber. Would a titanium Cricket be well received? Or is this a dumb idea?

I think it's an awsome idea, but it probably would never happen with all the other upcoming knives already in production. It does make sense considering the Chris Reeve type lock though. I'm all for it!

IIRC, someone mentioned recently that the "street" price for the RIL version of the Sage will be over $150. Granted a Cricket would use a bit less titanium and steel, but labor costs in Japan are higher so the best one could possibly hope for is that it would cost about the same. I have no interest in one myself, but I do have to wonder if a Cricket with an street price as high as, or more likely higher than, the Sage would sell well enough to be profitable for Spyderco.

Ehm, one question on the Ti Cricket, is the reverse S blade possible to be done as a full flat ground reverse S? Just wondering.

I, for one, would absolutely LOVE a bigger (3" blade) Cricket with aluminum scales (colored, like the Salsa) and dare I say it, a compression lock. It would combine my two favorite small knives, the Salsa and Cricket, and make it a little bit more beefy.

Wow, I'd love a TI cricket. Especially if it had a SE blade in premium steel. :D

If :spyder: could make it around a $100 street price, I'm sure I'd get one (and probably more since I tend to lose my crickets).

I think it's possible to be done for that price, the cricket uses thinner SS handles, so thinner TI makes sense, and the non-lock scale could be made out of G-10 or SS or something else to help keep costs down, even though it wouldn't be as cool.

Since I am moving to SC were the knife laws are under 2". My main EDC is going to be a Cricket. So I would love any variations that come out for this knife to give me more options.

A ti frame locking Cricket is a wonderful idea and a great
knife! I only know of the one I did for someone a long time ago posted on my forum at blade forums but correct me if I'm wrong.

As I recall the pivot was a weird size or something like that so the original was too short to convert it but I'd sure go for one from the factory yes. That would be an awesome little folder for sure and one of those that worked much bigger than it was which would equate to a great sheeple friendly user for most I think.

I had plans to make one myself, but decided to do a lava instead. (Yes, I'll post pics when it's finished, don't hold your breath...)

Would it be worth doing? Probably not. Ti is expensive and a PITA to work with. The Cricket is already a lot of money for a tiny knife (and worth every penny) but you know that it wouldn't be as popular if it sold for >$90.
Then again, Sal does all sorts of crazy things for his afis. I'd be surprised to see it happen (Ti hasn't ever been a very common material for Spyderco. That is changing, tho...)

The steel handles aren't as "sexy" as Ti, but they do everything that Ti can do... (except the anodizing, I guess.) TBH I prefer the feel of the steel scales. On a knife this size Al/Ti feels a bit *too* light.

Actually, I love the idea, but then I am never without a stainless Spyderco Cricket PE in my watch/coin pocket. An upscale Ti Cricket would be a really nice piece of work. Maybe with rainbow anodizing on the scales?

How about this as a possibility: Titanium scales, clip and hardware, and an H-1 blade? The ultimate quintessential rust-proof knife!

Or a ZDP-189 blade. I'm not picky. :D

Depending on price, I might be interested. Would the steel be upgraded also? I'm trying to figure if it would be cost effective, or would we just be paying more for the same overall performance as the SS model.
