I'm an admirer of Spyderco's designs. Using them is like immersing yourself in music or studying a painting in a museum. I buy some "fine" art but my preference is for usable art.

Like David, I'm just fine as is (though if we ever have the Ohio meet, I may have a few things HE would want ;) )....

Well, I am looking forward to having a Sage with every possible lock (especially a ball lock - that would be TOO cool). But these are in process already (Sal, can the ball be next after the RIL?).

I guess there are changes I would want in a couple models but the end goal always seems to be to turn them into a Caly 3/Lil'Temp/Sage... In the end, I just need to get (another) one of them, if anything.

The one new release I'd be interested in is the Phoenix IF it were FFG with a wire clip. I really do like the looks of the Phoenix but without it being FFG I just KNOW I'd never actually use it.

My Dear Friends,

I guess I consider it difficult to find much to change in Spyderco's line, save for a few cosmetic things that are only personal preference. I guess if I could be ridiculously nitpicky and have absolutely anything I wanted:

G-10 Harpy - Give it a set of orange G-10 scales, an Emerson Wave, and in so doing make it a hawkbilled "rescue" knife.

Tasman Salt - Add an Emerson Wave or enlarge the opening hole a bit more (like the prototype I reviewed - I'd practically kill to have that knife back) and otherwise don't change ANYTHING (unless you would want to full flat-grind it, of course). I ALWAYS have a Tasman Salt PE close at hand.

Yojimbo - Add a removable Emerson Wave like the P'Kal. It would then be as perfect an SD blade as I have ever seen. And yes, keep the smurf blue G-10 scales - I love them.

Dodo - add a ring backspacer to convert it to a karambit. It would really shine in this role, IMO.

Santoku - Bring this one back with a full flat grind and a Granton edge.

Other than that, possibly considering getting a custom run of G-10 in a subdued blue color to better match blue jean denim? :p

And jimping, at least on the top. That REALLY improved the functionality of mine.

Nice list there, guy,

I still support the Orange Dodo Sprint Run.

S30v, VG-10, 440c, 8Cr13Mov I dont care.

The Dodo is such a amazing knife its a shame for all the Dodo-less people not to have an opportunity to own Dodo... ;)

+1 on the G10 D'fly. So glad they're making it :)

Would like to see a Caly 3 in FG G10, with a larger 3.5'' blade

yea! I haven't owned a Dodo but I've had the pleasure of handling them. A different colour would indeed be interesting, plus orange G10 is bright enough to add to the sheeple friendly factor :D

I agree. A stainless steel Native 4 would be amazing!!!

I would also like to see:
- ladybug sized hawkbill with a bottom finger choil all stainless steel.
- Emerson opening Police3
- Kopa all SS without any of the weird handle materials
- Stainless steel blade Mule WITH a Spyderco Micarta handle (like the Street Beat)
- Fixed blade Native 4 with micarta handle (like the Street Beat)
- 12" Manix based on the original design

A highend medium-large (like the Endura) design with the following:

HANDLE & CLIP: just like the CF Caly3, but scaled up to the size of an Endura

BLADE: just like the Police3, but scaled down to the size of an Endura

This may resemble the old full size Calypso (which is fine by me) but I think the combination as I describe would make an elegant update to a medium-large folder with a good degree of "wow" factored in.

Now that I think of it:

1. Take the Paramilitary handle(any color but yellow:eek :)
2. Put a Military nested linerlock on it
3. Put a Para sized reverse S fully serrated blade on it
4. Low rider clip

.....and presto, you have my dream knife :D
