www.spydie.nl is updated with nearly all major variants

#1

Post by Ted »

Hi, I've updated http://www.spydie.nl with a new layout that shows nearly all major variants of Spyderco knives. I consider a model with a different color, handle material or other things that make it visibly stand out from others a major variant (the count is 459 so far). Edge types, blade steels, clip colors etc. will mostly be considered a minor variant in my book. I believe I've pretty much included them all, but I could have easily missed a couple, especially some colors for Delica's and Ladybug's. In the coming weeks I'll include the missing pics once I've found good ones.

The main page will now take some time to load, so be patient. Once it's loaded, you can hover your mouse pointer over the small pics (the variant) to see the larger pic change. If you click on a picture, you will get the bigger one in a new window.

Every model has a link to an article on the Spyderco wiki at http://www.spydiewiki.com for more detailed information, so make sure to visit that, or even contribute to the articles if you can. Contact information is on the main page of http://www.spydiewiki.com

For those prefering the "short" list, click the short button. The rest is pretty much the same.

All comments or suggested changes on the layout are welcome. It took sometime to find a correct format to be able to show all variations in one view and I think this is the best compromise. The purpose is to easily identify a model or "browse" to the different variations. From that perspective, I think they should all be instantly visible in one page so that is something I will not change.

Enjoy,
Ted

Woohoo!!! I love seeing all the variants! I'm sure that was a huge project and I really appreciate your efforts, it really shows.

I also see that you brought back "by year" or 'History" and I thank you sir for that, I really like to see when these guys came out in one place. Your site has become a GREAT resource

Very nice work Ted!

Small question: will the "real size" part be coming back? I really appreciated that bit whenever I was wondering how a knife would actually feel.

Thanks, it's still there, I just forgot to provide a link on the main page. That's fixed now :)

Looks good. The blade length on the C119 is wrong. I think that was originally published wrong by Spyderco. Don't forget the D+E4 waves and SS handles. :spyder: On edit; Can you put the D+E4 in the size line-up?

You've outdone yourself here. You have the definitive site for the spydernut.

Thanks - do you have the correct blade length for the C119?
The waves are present. I indeed forgot the SS ones - :o - those are added now. I'll look into adding more into the size line-up page.

Small update - I've added named links on the resized, history and short page to navigate back to the model with variations on the main page.

Found a few references to 3-1/4" and that makes sense looking at it and they got it right in mm. I didn't see the waves because of that terrible white background in Spydercos photos. :spyder:
