The First Lady of ROCK

#106

Post by JD Spydo »

As some of you already know Janis Joplin was my mother  :D . I know that Agent STarling is aware of that and that she is also an avid fan of the "First Lady of Rock" Just yesterday I was heading home from work and I heard mom's old tune "Piece Of My Heart" off the old "Big Brother & The Holding Company" LP
Just by coincidence one of the guys at work yesterday was playing her old "Kosmic Blues" album and it brought a tear to my eye :)
That album had the song "Try" and I highly suggest you all pull up the YOUTUBE on that song.
Few people have ever sang with the soul that sister Janis did.

Well, I don't listen to any rap (or I guess they call it hip-hop now), but I really like Misfits, dead kennedys, joy division and Michale Graves (ex- misfits singer). The album "Illusions" by Michale Graves is not really well known, but is an excellent album. I guess people aren't into acoustic that much anymore. Gotta love the Ramones too...

I've just listened to the theme from "The Wrestler" by Bruce Springsteen.

Poignant yet robust folk rock flavor. Really brings out the best in the film (can't wait to see it! Mickey Rourke was an idol of mine during my "wannabe-badass" days in my youth).

I'll echo Pouff's Teddy Thompson listing.

I've had my iTunes set to play songs in by Title.

Latest played were: Motorhead, Skip James, Murder by Death and X.

Currently playing is: Arab Strap.

Upcoming are: Steve Earle (twice in a row), The Go-Betweens, Bruce Springsteen, Stereophonics [Stereophonics? Who the heck is that?].

Ever since I bought Apocalyptica, it has been the main thing I listen to. I am not a fan of the songs with lyrics. But the instrumentals are awesome.
