Greetings you all :)
As you all may know I recently got a Para/SE in D2 from Sal and I'm still as happy as a kid in a candy store :D
Now I know that D2 is way more prone to rust than VG10 or other CPM's. But I would really like to know how careful I have to be on this.
It's winter right now but during summer I sweat easy and a lot and I wouldn't like my Para to rust in my then dampy pocket
I put a thick layer of Ballistol on the blade of my Para and let it soak in(for as far as possible) from Sunday evening on.
So I would really like to know if that will be enough to protect the blade on the sweatier days.
I hope you can help me out on this :)
Thanx much for reading

My D2 para gets used, abused, never cleaned except under water, and never oiled. I even cut food and whatever with it... Never had a problem... you will be fine.

I don't know if it is really that much different Arend.
It has only 1% less Chromium than ''stainless steels''.

I have a Agent in D2 by Bob Dozier that I carried IWB for a few years with minimal care. The blade has a few discolored/stained spots, but no rust. I think of them more as marks of character.
If you wipe your D2 ParaMilitary down with mineral oil, or whatever, after use it should be just fine.

My D2 knives also have a "slight" discoloration.
Although, be aware, one drop of salt, and be ready to scrape a rust pit.
I've had a dozier, which accidentally got a little salt on it, next day it was so rusty in the spot, where the salt dropped, I had to "dig" it out with another knife's tip. now it seems it just has a crater. My D2 Nitrous Stryker, by Benchamade has suffered from EXTREME case of discoloration, after taking it to a picnic. Look like BM Nitrous Stryker Rust2 rather than D2.
I, on everyday bases would prefer stainless steel by much. Though, again, probably the other steels would suffer from pitting, if salt got onto any of them.
