My Millitary finally shrunk on me(pics)

#1

Post by spydutch »

Greetings you all :)

After carrying and using my S30V Military/SE for the past couple of days I can say that the knife finally shrunk on me.

The Millie has always been my favourite Spydie. However it's a rather big knife and because of the NKP factor I was mostly carrying a Delica sized blade or smaller.

Everytime I flipped open my Millie the blade appeared huge and intimidating to me. Until this morning. I thumbed open the knife for the 23456th time and suddenly it didn't appear so big to me anymore.

Soooo I guess my Delica will be retired for a while.

Here are some pics:

Got lucky on this one, dead center

perfect lock up ;)

In hand the knife doesn't look all that huge. Just mid sized :)

Just one last pic of my Millitary/SE in it's full glory ;)

Hope you don't mind the long post and pics :D

Thanks for reading

Ahhhh, the Military Epiphany! I just love to hear that! I've said it before, but if I ever had to keep just one knife, it would be a Millie for sure!

Glad the shrinkage finally happened for you Arend!

I'm still waiting for mine to shrink. Course I only carry it at home and at the shop cause Its over the legal limit here... just a little more time, I expect it will grow...err shrink on me.

It's funny how they do that Arend.

I did the same thing. I carried a Military for about a month and then went back and picked up the Delica you sent me and went "what the heck.....what is this small knife?".

I guess it is all relative huh? :)

Agreed! I got myself one for Christmas. I do not think there is a finer "user" folding knife on the planet. It's the ultimate in high-tech and high performance.

Yes, it does shrink after a while. It took about 5 years for it to dawn on me. The 2 Militaries I have now are the 6th and 7th IIRC. I thought the handle was too big on the first 3, and the 4th was part serrated. I don't remember why the 5th one left, but now they're staying.

For about the past 3 or 4 years, the Military has been my default folder. If I only have one, it's probably the one.

I still have use for my Calypso Jr's and my new Native 4 :D , but if I really need to cut something or suspect that I might (which is all the time) I reach for the Military first.

I must admit my strong preference to plain edge, but I think we might still be able to be friends. ;)

It is a strange thing that you always have to explain to KNP why you are
carrying such a big knife. Then again why do we? ;)

Just like a big diamond on a ring. Looks big at first, but looks smaller as time goes by.
