And can you tell us about the application, how did that go, what did you do....
You know, the nitty gritty...
What he said!!!
Ive powder coated stuff more times than I can count, I imagine that Gun kote is extremely similar, but do tell, do you do it yourself, or sub it out?

thx guys
the KG gun kote was done by a local knifemaker named dylan, he's pretty good at this.
Apply this coating is basically bead blasting the blade and then brush the coating on and get it baked for 2 hours.
According to dylan KG gun kote is really tough stuff and is 100% rust free.
To be honest rust is the only thing i worry about CPM M4, and now that worry has been eliminated.
The downside is tho, i lost the nice scary sharp toothy edge that spyderco put on it, the logo and all the other etches too.

i'll have to check with dylan on that. all i know is that he has this thing in two different colours, one is kinda beadblasted like (the one i have), the other is kinda greenish. i am assuming that he's using the same stuff that CR use for their fixed blades.Marion David Poff wrote:Which Gun Kote did you use?

So far it's been pretty good. It is pretty tough, but since i haven't used the MT hard yet (still need a K sheath before start to EDC it), it still needs some time to prove itself. i guess as soon as i get a K sheath i'll figure that out.
These coatings are all somehow similar, DLC, KG GK, duracoat. Yeah it should be 100% rust proof according dylan, and yeah i did lose everything that was on the edgephotonjunkie wrote:Looks good. Neat job. Is Gun Kote similar to Duracoat? I guess it would reduce any chance of rust under the paracord. Did you mask off the edge, or just coated everything removed whatever was on the edge after?

that's my current EDC, not too big, not too small, not a folding knife.cyberspyder wrote:That SAR looks nice too :)
Thick and strong enough(1/4 inch stock), yet nice and sharp :D
however, i'll probably switch to MT once i get the K sheath done, the MT is simply soooooooooooO MUCH lighter than the SAR XL EDB (and yes, MT cuts better).
