Don't worry, there are plenty of byrds left.

There are also lots of other things that will be available tomorrow.

There goes the Lava :( It's sad to see that go unless there is a G10 version coming out ;)

I definitely saw the Poliwog getting canned, along with the Lava. I'm mildly surprised that the SE Caly 3 is gone, but it begs to be PE, anyway. I'm actually surprised to see the Etched D'Fly gone. Do people just not buy etched ones?

Both the Lava and the Poliwog are two Spydercos that will be missed from the line up....Both are great knives but very misunderstood...sometimes people realize that fact after they are discontinued...Sad to see them go but at the same time excited to find out what 2009 will bring us.....Doc :D

Sad to see the Lava go, although it lasted about as long as most collaboration models and longer than some. The good news is that the Byrd line took the bulk of the hits this year, can't recall ever seeing fewest Spyderco models on one of these lists. Considering the number of new models Sal has already hinted are in the works, that was the biggest surprise.

What Kristi is saying is very true. Just because a model gets discontinued doesn't really affect it's availability for at least a year. A good example of that was the Dodo and the Catcherman. I was able to get all I wanted of either one of those models for quite some time after their deletion from the line up.

Unless it was a model that was even hard to get while it was manufactured and one of the few that come to mind in that light were very lightly produced, exotic models like the Titanium ATR and the big Dyad. But most Spyders that are discontinued are very easy to find for at least 9 months to a year. However if there is a model on that list you want I wouldn't wait for months to get one. It truly does take a while for those to disappear from dealer shelves.

C28PET - Dragonfly Etched SS PlainEdge

#14

Post by bh49 »

This is a very nice knife. I like it a lot.
Bought one this summer, but my little 10 years old nephew like Etched Dragonfly as well (the only family member, who likes knives) and I gave it to him. Now I need to replace it asap. Great little knife.

What is sad are knives like the Scorpius that were discontinued years ago and they are still available pretty much everywhere.

I'm just glad to see that the Para and the Harpy are going to live on. :D

I think the Harpy will go nowhere, just like the SS Police. A true classic ;)

I know I will speak against my wallet but I truely hope there will be more teeth in the next line up ;)

Please Sal and crew, make this overweight old Dutchman a happy one :D

.....and a broke one I'm afraid in that case :p
