Spine whacking the T-Mag
Spine whacking the T-Mag
Anyone else try it? I did, last night -- good, sharp rap against a stack of (Blade) magazines. D@mned if it didn't pass. Turns out the magnet actually holds pretty well against a force directed perpendicular to the blade.
Ummm, thanks for the test of this non-locking Spydie. Could you please test the UKPK next. Thanks

Oh, come on. It's not like there is a locking mechanism to harm. Tell me the negatives of spine whacking a lockless knife. Other than the typical inertiatic forces of flicking a knife open/closed, there is no harm.

I was thinking more about the inevitable loss of blood and tissue, then the subsequent "Spyderco T-Mag done me wrong" thread that would follow.Piercieve wrote:Oh, come on. That's what I'd worry about too. Considering how fluidly this blade will disengage and move, doing anything like spinewhacking seems like a recipe for getting cut.CombatGrappler wrote:I was thinking more about the inevitable loss of blood and tissue, then the subsequent "Spyderco T-Mag done me wrong" thread that would follow.

Sorry to pick on you spydercofanatic, but your words are a good "post" to hitch my reply to:spydercofanatic wrote:WHAT??????!!!! YOU MEAN IT WONT STAY OPEN WITH A SPINE WHACK????!!! Im sendin BOTH of mine back LOL!!!!!! :D
To steal a line from a movie, what we have here is failure to communicate.
"D@mned if it didn't pass." English translation for y'all -- the knife passed the spine whack test. That's why I posted. There'd have been no surprise (hence the "D@mned") and no reason to post if a lockless knife failed the test.
The words, "[t]urns out the magnet actually holds pretty well against a force directed perpendicular to the blade" should have been a clue.
