Both these knives are similar - yet I'm always reading great reviews about the Calypso Jr and very little about the Dragonfly.
What's even stranger, is the Calypso is discontinued, but the Dragonfly lives on.
You thoughts please Spydiepeople? Particularly on the Dragonfly.
Thank you
Dragonfly v Calypso Jr

It baffles me too, that Spyderco discontinued the Calypso line. I love my Calypso Jr. LWT model. It is a gem! I think the reason that the Dragonfly is still in production today is because of its low price, (around $32 bucks) and its wide popularity. I have two Dragonflys, and I love the way they handle. Spyderco is constantly changing to newer models, so that could be another reason that they discontinued the Calypso Jr.'s. Only God knows......

I think SpyderNut hit it dead center. The Dragonfly is a smaller, lower priced blade. I would think more of the general public would want something that was smaller than a Calypso Jr. for daily carry, or as a handy, within-reach utility knife. And for something bigger, it seems that the general public had chosen the Delica, over the Caly Jr. *shrug* I have a micarta Caly Jr. It's a nice knife, but I don't put it into my EDC rotation as some of my other knives.

Got the Dragonfly (SS/PE) in August 20,2001... Then the Calypso jr lt(PE) on October 26, 2001(after it got up here)... love them both.
I find the Calypso jr lt great for EDC as it's non-threatening shape and size doesn't seem to intimidate like some of my 'toys'. it takes and edge that doesn't go away, and has taught me how to open tip-down.
The Dragonfly(SS) is in a class on it's own. It's size and shape also make it a great sheeple knife. By putting a 30 degree angle and taking a couple(2-5) swipes on the medium stones at 40, I get it just about right for a daily use angle. Food, Cardboard, paper, flesh(and this one cuts deep if you move wrong)... I have yet to find a reasonable thing it can't do. Great holds on it for reverse grip, the 2.25ish blade is a wonder to behold. This is one of the few knives I've had that acts a lot bigger than it really is. It even goes well for dress occasions if you get either CF or SS and plain.

I am actually of the school that the C 28BK
"Dragonfly" is superior to the "Calypso Jr.";
I own a "Calypso" with the discontinued
Micarta handles, it's just that I can't seem
to hold on to the "Dragonfly". People &
friends I know just are enamored with it.
I like it for the older molded to the handle
clip. It's concealability is another factor,
as well as it's inherent sharpness. I'll soon
get another. Count on it !
