Waffle Folder (second Spyderco-holed blade)

#1

Post by Burchtree »

This is the second model I've made to use the Spyderco hole (I do have the license :) . I just finished this blade up and I guess I'll have to come up with a better name for it down the road. :D It is made out of 3/16-thick W-2 with a 3 1/4-inch cutting edge. It is about 7 5/8-inches open with a titanium lock-side and a black/green G-10 front. I did the texturing on my little mill with a ball end-mill and a little patience. :)

Thanks for checking it out.

Very nice. Sounds like it's a somewhat thick blade, but it looks like it has zero bevel

I'm kinda curious what you'd do with a bowie type blade now :D

No zero edge, I've just learned not to sharpen until it is ready to ship. :D

Bowie blade -- You mean like this? ;)

Actually, I was thinking more of a clip point with the false edge, kinda like the first chinook. For some reason, I thought of bowie when I saw that first one.

That still is a beauty of a flipper though :D I'm sure the deep belly on either will make for an awesome slicer :D

it is made out of W-2. I flipper has low-layer damascus that I made out of 1095, 15n20, and nickel. :)

Beautiful work Burch, the handle pattern looks great! A "little patience"?!? Wow, what kind of job would take a lot of your patience?

As usual, amazing work, Michael.

Actually, I like the name "Waffle" for the knife. :)
