nitecore extreme

#1

Post by Shenmue728 »

Anyone own one? I was going to get a nitecore defender but i am really draw to this other model especially with the SS bezel. But sometimes I see the SS bezel with.... uh... *teeth* and smooth and i would prefer the *teeth* Does it come with both or would i have to specifiy? And using the right name for the *teeth* would be helpful too ;)

Thanks for the help guys and gals. The reason i ask here is cuz you guys know your stuff and helped alot in my last flashlight Q and A

Those "teeth" are usually called crenelations. Here's a review from CandlePowerForums. http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/sho ... p?t=198804

If you need any help with the technical jargon, just ask here.

I have the EX10 and like it a lot. Cant say much for those two though. I'd get the Defender before the Extreme though.

I have the D10, the Defender. The Extreme is on it's way.
Nitecore makes exellent lights. You can't go wrong with any of them.
Be Carefull !!!!! Addictive !!!!! Just like Spyderco's :D ;)

Asfaltpiloot , i'm thinking about picking up a D10 myself with regular AA ones. In that way i can use nimh rechargables which cost less then CR/lion batteries. I also think the head without "teeth" will be easier on pockets (wear) instead of the Defender. Output is the same right?

Hi Maarten.

Yes,both lights run @ 130 Lumen.
The D10 @ min brightness and a fresh batterie will run about a 100 hours
How's that for an AA batterie :D

I bought the D10 for the same reasons (and then got hooked).

Hope you enjoy your flashlight as much or more as i do.

Here's a nice instruction / info video you might enjoy.

We would rather be the knife in your pocket, because is "works" better, than the knife in your showcase, because it "looks" better.

hey all,

I had an ex10 and while it was a good light, I just didn't care for it.

Nice pics though!

You only get one bezel and you have to specify which one.

This site is the best place to get them:

Robert,

the extreme got a 190 lumen output from a single cell..
Am i correct.. And is the cell CR123A .?

I think i settle for the D instead concidering the runtime on low....

Hi Maarten,

Yes, you're right, that's because the CR123 battery's 3 volt.
The Extreme can also run on rechargeble cr123 li-ion's if you want.
It's cheaper to run that way.

Have a good day.

asfaltpiloot wrote:Hi Maarten,

If memory services me correct you get the 190 lumens
when using a rechargeable 14500 Li-ion cell.
The 14500 puts out 3.7v instead of the AA's 1.5v.
But i can be wrong. :p

Have a good day.
The Extreme uses a single 3.0V cr123 or a 3.7V 16340 Li-ion (rechargeable cr123 often called a R123) and should be about 190 Lumen with either of these two.

The 14500 is an AA sized Li-ion that fits the Nitecore D10 an is correctly 3.7V like all Li-ions. This will not fit the Extreme.

The D10 is brighter with a 14500 than with a normal AA cell.
