#1

Post by OuchThatsSharp »

OK, I'm gettin' ansy. I need a fix and I need it quick.

Any updates on when we can expect to see the new Native IV CF and the Phoenix?

I actually think I'm starting to get withdrawal symptoms :D

I will say it again, I really think there should be a sticky thread that has "estimated" release dates for future knives. Last time I mentioned it I was told that others have mentioned it before.

I was on Blade Forum and I went and visited the Kershaw gang and sure enough they have the exact thing that I am talking about.

Frankly I am jealous.

Now I'm all for MORE information.

But I'd rather have a nebulous ETA as to when to expect product than a set in stone firm date...that they miss.

OTS, Soon brother, very soon.

Maybe I am too new here but I do not remember any new Spyderco meeting any projected date.

We nuts have learned to live with it. To their credit Spyderco will move back a date if a problem crops up. I suspect other companies are less anal about quality. Places I have worked if there was a problem with a vender or an internal process, costs were weighed against risk and the cheapest route was taken. I would hate to do business with Sal. He would be difficult to please.

Where I work our worst hard to please customer is EA but that is becuse they are just ****s. EA is a pain just for the sake of being a pain. I beleive Spyderco is a pain for the right reasons.
Not really all that slick ;)

Definitely looking forward to seeing the new Native 4. I has all the improvements I would have wanted - no point on the 'bump' between middle and ring fingers, better choil, awesome D4/E4/Adventura style clip. It will be interesting to see if a FRN/S30V/Golden version follows the CF/VG-10 version.

I am a HUGE Native fan and have been looking forward to a Native IV for donkeys years :p

The Viele is a cousin to the Native and it looks extremely sexy.

I can't wait for either of these. The offerings from our favourite knife company have so far been more than anyone can expect from Spyderco. We've all waited for ages, a few more weeks of patience and I'm certain no-one will be disappointed. Spyderco hates putting out products that are even remotely sub-standard so every minute they spend checking their product for F&F is fine by me.

Does anyone know what type/texture of CF is going to be used on the Native 4?

Wondering if it will be similar to Caly 3 CF, Sage, or Military, etc...?

Don't have a Sage, so am not sure what the CF on it is like, but based on the prototype I handled at Blade, I'd say the CF on the Native IV will have a smooth matte finish, like that on the Caly 3.

Thanks, Deacon. I like that Caly 3 smooth matte CF quite a lot.

Well, the end of July is coming up pretty quick. I guess we're not going to see the Native IV in July...or the Phoenix?
