:spyder: can anyone give me information regarding a centofante versuvious,the blade is a golden and is ce. :) Its frn with a silver (palladium)spydie inset..thanks gents any pictures out there? :confused:

I think you are talking from C66 Centofante Vesuvius (2001-2003), compression lock, tip up/down, hollow ground ATS-34 blade steel, PE or 50/50, handle is either black FRN with a silver bug or blue shell inlay.

Picture shows the C66 with blue shell inlay :)

:) fantastic,is that a gold spyder as well? or is it a reflection?.whats the significance of the palladium? I know its a rare material.how do you rate it as an edc?

It is a good overall design as it still exists in its children, Centofante 3 and 4. You can see the Centofante 4 on the left hand side, sixth one down. The centofante 3 is the same but with the blade style you like. Both have the backlock instead of the compression lock of the original.

The original Vesuvious had a few issues because the compression lock was brand new and Spyderco didn't quite have it worked out; so they reworked it with a backlock, and is has been for sale ever since.

All the bugs are silver in good lighting.

It carries well.

As for "why palladium", I suspect it's because it's a nice slivery color and does not tarnish.
