Modified CF Mili

#1

Post by WinstonWolf »

So here are some pics of my modified CF S90V Mili.
Mike @ Grindstone Cutlery took my CF Mily from textured to a smooth finish. He also polished up the clip. This sucker looks and feels great and it makes a **** of a knife to carry when you are dressed up where the original would have been out of place.

I have been carrying it every day for about 2 weeks so far. Mike did the same thing to his before the BLADE show and showed the modified version to Sal.

Dude that thing is smokin' awesome. What a sweeeeeeeeeet looking Military. Very nice.

He did a darn fine job.

Did you send the entire knife or just the handle? Nice polish job on the clip too. :)

Thanks David

I didn't have to send him anything, I live about 30 minutes away and he takes care of my knife addiction issues all the time. This hobby is worst than drugs you know!
I took it to him, he had some time so he did it. The only thing he had to work on was the handle and the clip so I imagine that is the only thing he would need.

brj - yup that beautiful texture is hidden under the texture! It is unlike any other CF I have ever seen. Take it easy on the sand paper and make sure to keep it very wet and very very light (600+ or higher grit - find some 3000 grit if you can).

Nice Mille Winston. If it wasnt for Mike I wouldnt have my s90v or for that matter a single Spyderco. Thats why he is the Master Chief.

Mike made this one a bit prettier for me

Its not as nice as your Millie but Id say its the sexiest Standard Ive ever seen.

PM sent to the "Wolf"

Got mine today. I am too old to be tactical, your CF looks great, and a slicked up action would also help.

Would also like to move the clip for tip up carry.
Can anyone recommend a smaller SS clip from another Spyderco model
for the swap?

Thanks!

Thanks!

Will check the kris tip-up clip.

Might even do the work myself, not sure its even worth the trouble of sending out.

Think I have the tap for the clip holes.

Called Mike and asked about sending it in, but he gave me a few tips over the phone. Did it my self, piece of cake.
Bad lighting in my photos, but am very happy now. Comes out of the pocket easily and rides low, tip up, looks as sharp as it actually is. :)

MCM - Nice job with that CF and with mounting that clip. What did you use to get the screws to thread without ripping the CF hole? Did you epoxy a threaded stud or something like that in the holes?

Just drilled and tapped.
Small taps can be found at hobby shops.
No problem's with CF, only takes a few minutes & is very strong.
