UK Pen Knife Stiff Opener?

#1

Post by ronberens »

Just got my orange UKPK the other day. I just had a question for those of you with one. Is this knife a little stiff to open? It doesn't seem to glide open like my other Spydercos and I was wondering if this is normal. I understand that it takes a little force to close, but the opening seems almost as hard.

My well-worn black UKPK still requires more force to open than most of my other Spydies. I think it is just the nature of the beast, being a slip-joint.
I don't believe in safe queens, only in pre-need replacements.

Yep, I agree.

Both of my UKPK's require a bit of force to open. But then again it has a very strong spring and well made notches. I wouldn't worry about it. It's just different to get used to, if you are used to a regular lockback. ;)

Cheers!

As mentioned that is the nature of a slip joint. The backspring is the only thing keeping it open as well as closed, so you want it to have a good bit of tension behind it (for your fingers sake).
So many knives, so few pockets... :)
