I also love FRN folks. People think that FRN is just "cheap plastic". I used to think that back in 2005 when I just started collecting / using Spyderco knives. I've learned over the years that FRN is strong as heck. I know Paul said that STR sent him back the FRN from one of the knives he had modified and he bent it in half until both halves touched and then it popped right back to it's original shape with no breakage. That's impressive!
FRN is a real working mans/womans knife. FRN can take such a dang beating it's insane. I personally think that solid FRN handled knives like the Salt series and the older Delica and Endura 3's. are stronger than a lot of G10 handled knives with steel liners.

FRN Rocks
+1 on the FRN. I really wish I could get a few more FRN Crickets.
What model would you like to see in FRN? Or a return to FRN?

I fall asleep every night dreaming of a FRN Stretch. :)whitefeather wrote: What model would you like to see in FRN? Or a return to FRN?

FRN thoughts
I have a Native with S30V and RN handles that I am not crazy about--just not all that solid--there is and has always been some blade play in that knife. The FRN waved Endura has changed my opinion however. Combined with steel liners and screwed together, this makes a great package. In fact, I believe that waved Endura is one of my all time favorite Spydercos--especially for the price. I love my Para, but the waved Endura has a much lower profile and is lighter--both of which make it more attractive for EDC.
From an aesthetic standpoint, G10 is preferred and G10 is famous for being indestructible--but I have to say that I'd bet my FRN waved Endura would hold up as well.
The FRN without the liners--thats a compromise IMHO--

I concur! Unlined FRN makes for a very lightweight yet very strong folder. They allow even a moderately large folder (Endura III, Atlantic Salt) to be barely noticeable in the pocket.GarageBoy wrote:I love unlinered FRN, a la Calypso Jr.
In addition to the Caly Jr, I really like the unlined FRN handles of the Salt line.

I use the Native as my gold standard where FRN is concerned. All of my Natives are silky smooth, with a solid lockup and the molded FRN is comfortable, yet grips the hand securely. One of many things I like about Spyderco is their intelligent use of materials and the Native is a prime example, IMO.

:spyder: :spyder:  :spyder: :spyder:I Love it  Light weight, durable, strong, and can take a Beating, and still look good  That's the best....That's Spyderco :)Spydiman wrote:People can name-call FRN on day long, and FRN still f***** rocks. Personally, I prefer FRN over G-10. I know.... But FRN is perfect for virtually any job. Nothin' beats it for light weight knives, and with the proper liners, FRN kicks rear end for heavier use.
Anyone else here have a love obsession with Spyderco's FRN?

I have to agree. My waved FRN Endura4 was my inaugural :spyder: and it really stands for everything I like about lined FRN Spydies: solid build, easy handle retention even when wet/twisting grip, and light weight. Maybe not as fancy-shmancy looking as G-10, but beautiful in their own way. :)Qboy wrote: In fact, I believe that waved Endura is one of my all time favorite Spydercos--especially for the price.
