Help: Should I EDC my Dodo?

#1

Post by enyong112 »

Hi Guys,

I have a numbered CE Dodo, I specifically bought a Black PE Para for Edc'ing. However when I started to put my Dodo in my pocket, I'm leaning on making it my EDC actually it's already been my EDC for 2 weeks. Right now I'm somewhat confused if I should just let it stay in the box in the drawer, or just let it ride inside the pocket. I'm a user, I use it cut rope, tape, food and other stuff...

Personally I carry all my knives at some point. I don't buy a knife if I am not going to give it pocket time. These are all quality knives and are meant to be carried/used. To buy a knife and leave it in the box in a drawer (unless its a back up) seems wrong. But in the end its entirely up to you.

Hi,
I had the same problem until I got myself a spare (or 3), but my first Dodo is still my EDC and there's no signs of wear and tear yet. I've been carrying it for what, 2-3 years now..
So, I'd say just use it, and get a spare if possible.

you should def. carry it, and get a spare so you dont feel bad about using it.

After a few weeks of EDC, odds are the G10 has smoothed out noticeably already, and it no longer really counts as brand new in box.

If it's a black handled version, i'd suggest you at least take care of it while you're EDCing it, they don't pop up on the secondary market that often. The Blue ones however appear pretty regularly, with little variation between either edge type.

I EDC my ATR Ti regularly, it has scratches, a chip in the blade, and I don;t regret it for a second.

Go ahead and EDC it. I have a black SE that's sitting in my pocket right now that I bought brand new a couple years ago. It was already discontinued by then, so I could have saved it and sold it for a much greater price, but I love using it much better. I love the dodo! :D

Go for it. Dodos are still fairly available at reasonable prices on the secondary market.

I agree with the others statements, that it would be a good idea to buy a backup Dodo. That was my solution to the EDC problem. I bought myself my backup and now my Dodo is in my pocket. Everyday now for about 3 months. Buying a backup definitely made it easier to start carrying one. :D

Can you tell I love my Dodos? :p

The true genius of the dodo isn't really witnessed untill it's used. They're amazinly ergonomic cutting knives with excellent steel, the right heat treat, & geometry all blended together into a really amazing knife.

Not really a show horse though. Use it and enjoy. Joe

Grab your Dodo....drop it (closed), then open her up and cut a box with it..... oops.... you now HAVE to EDC it :D :p

I have them but my EDC needs doesn't call for Dodo usage. So I keep mine for posing for photos. Will need to get them out again soon for some cleaning and oiling up :)

But if you find that they suit your cutting needs then yes, go ahead, and as others here have said you can find them once in a while popping up for sale. And because many still have theirs unused, you'll be able to grab some later (at what price ?? dunno :) )

yeah, use it, why not...I've EDC'd my Blue Spyderhawk and I may even use it someday  ...it's like if you had a nice guitar, once you've played it enough it'll get banged around a bit but it still sounds sweet...OTOH we drive our cars, but don't like to scratch a nice paint job, do we...? there, now that I've argued for and against my own argument I think I'll go cut up some boxes...not! :p :D
