Well, I got a nice call from CO that they were going to take care of the clip and make it a lefty for me; I'm waiting filled with anticipation like for a mail bride...the worst thing for me is that I got to hold it and appreciate it before sending it to become a left winged Hawk :rolleyes:thombrogan wrote:Has everyone got their blues washed away so they may enjoy the Superhawk's massive goodness?

Glad to hear you've got good news and that your pangs of anticipation are from loving and shipping to warranty services versus not loving at all.

YEA !!! Got to my dealer to find out it would not allow the move to left hand , bummer . Screw on left side will not come out stops a about two turns . Broke a bit , it is that tight inside the barrel . Rick made a call ,knife going back to the Golden hospital . Brief time with the knife was impressive , fills the hand nicely , love the comp lock , finish otherwise is excellent . After waiting so long and get a bad one was a shock to say the least . Humbles me after so many Spydercos in my collection and being so smug about no troubles , I get brought down to Earth with one of the most desired knives for quite sometime . At least I know it will be made right ! Regards MG2

Hello Thom
Sorry , still waiting for a return of the Superhawk , which has been worse than waiting for the model so many months . Starling gave a very nice review , that I thought was very upside . My limited exposure pales with the new users of this knife . MG2
I just got my Superhawk today. What a knife! Nice piece of work. My only mod was to change clip with the Caly3 low rider version. I took the proper size Torx bit and the right side screw unscrewed no problem. Came out completely. Changed the clip and tightened it down. No problems here. The date code on my box for this Superhawk is DH (4/2008).

Did you try to switch the clip for left hand carry? That is where, I think Manix and I ran into trouble. I used my proper size WIHA torx driver to loosen the left size torx head and it did not budge one bit. The trouble is not with the right side torx head but with loosening the left side torx screw.
Manix, I know how you feel; but we should be patient "Patience is a virtue, possess it if you can; seldom found in women, but never in a man". Pedro's wife always is quoting it to Pedro.
I'm sure we will get our knives soon and enjoy them as they are meant to be:
open, cut ,close, open, cut, ...

Hello Pedro !
I tryed to ease the pain with another Wings that came in Friday , lasted 5 minutes , neighbor wanted it , good kid so it went home with him and a big smile . Third Wings to go out of my hands , so I went to the house and switched out my Dyad for the Manix and Merlin , AHHH that felt better . My thoughts are with hope you also see the Superhawk soon . MG2
I checked this out again. The right side screw comes out easily for a clip swap. With the screw out and clip off, I tried to unscrew the left side and it won't budge. I didn't want to put too much force on it to damage it but I put quite a bit of force on it and it won't budge. My take is that the screw is fixed (or not meant to turn) while in the knife and has to be pushed out from the opposite end, flipped to the other side and reinstalled.pedro navaja wrote:Hi Spyharpy,

This is one instance where a little more info should have been included with the knife on how to move the clip to the other side. Perhaps Sal can chime in and verify as he knows the actual construction or from someone who has taken it completely apart.

I'm looking forward to Sal to give us his opinion on the right way of switching the clips; I think thombrogan figured it out, but it was a bit too late for us
since the superhawk was already on its way to Golden.
Manix Guy 2, I also tried to ease my separation anxiety with a G-10 Crosbill, a very nice knife but no Superhawk and with a green Manix.
Hope it all will be resoved soon
Pedro

Now just that I was about to start looking for a Superhawk... I read this thread.
I'm not sure, since it's been a while when I changed my clip, but if I remember correctly, Dodo has the same kind on D-shaped screw also. If so, then the trick that thombrogan described is the way to do it.. hope all goes well with all of you fellow hawkbill fans.

Thom had it right; it is the way to do it; the left side screw does not move. personally the less moving things the better; unless you are dancing.nightdog wrote:Now just that I was about to start looking for a Superhawk... I read this thread.
