I have a couple of old (circa 2000) and new (circa 2007) Spyderpacs (32 knives). They are all about the same size and shape. The biggest difference I have noticed is that the new ones smell. I'm not sure what it is, but it is a really bad odor and not at all subtle. It seems to come from the clear plastic that covers each knife slot. Whatever it is seems to get transferred to the knives. Even after airing them out for a month or so I can still detect it on some of the models with Kraton inlay and FRN scales.
I don't think it is caused by anything in my house since all the packs have been stored next to each other (literally touching) since I got them. It is only the newer ones.
I wouldn't recommend storing collectors pieces in them for this reason or at least make sure the ones you get don't stink
As far as the confined space damaging the clip or Kraton inlays I have never seen it with mine, but I don't rough them up either.

Funny you say that, the bag i just got reeks, but it it smells like some kind of metal protectant that wouldnt harm the knives or maybe it would hurt the paint on some of the clips or handles.
i usually like to look at all my spydercos often & bringing them in & out of boxes is a pain, latley ive been buying doubles so i can carry one and save the other for safe keeping, picking and choosing which ones of course.

I've been storing the majority of my knives in the large Spyderpack for almost two years. Haven't seen any problems yet. I don't know about the "smell" some of you are experiencing as mine doesn't smell. Pretty cool when someone wants to see some of your knives and you "unroll" the 32 pocket Spyderpack with each slot filled! :D
It's better to have knife and not need it than to need a knife and not have it.

I store all of mine in the Spyderpak, and have no problems at all. My paks don't smell either! :)

I store all my goodies in a large Spyderpac (My goal is to fill it) and no problems so far. I actually use the rings on the top to hang in on my wall, that way they are all on display for everyone to see! I would suggest getting one, it's an extremely efficient use of space and a good investment.
