Well diver15, it strikes me that the Endura isn't the real problem, it was probably just the first model you could think of that you felt was emblematic of your frustration.
So if it's okay to set the frustration and ranting aside for a moment, I'll ask what I see as the pertinent question - if what you're currently seeing from Spyderco is not meeting your threshold of being new and unique then what would you like to see them make?

After all, how much better can they get, huh?
I am only going to buy the next 7-8 permutations of the Endura and that is it! Well, unless I happen to live longer and, with one wheel already in the ditch, I can't expect to see #9 or #10 anyway.
Just because Spyderco makes the knives I admire, marvel at and lust after who do they think they are? Diver15 could not be more right. If they, Spyderco, wants to see more of my money they are going to have to miracle their product line and not just improve it in absolutely fabulous ways. Sheech.
And, just what is holding up the development of the solar-powered Endura where the slice cuts itself?

diver 15,diver15 wrote:this has been buging me for a while, instead of making new or uniqu knives spyderco seems to be using the same model over and over again (like the endura) and just changing the handle material, this happens with alot of other models to, i dont want a blue endura to carry on mondays and thursdays and a white one to carry on tuesdays and wednesdays. i want somthing new and uniqu. if you have to you can go back into the archievs and bring out some of the extinct models but at least give us somthing besides the endura!
Whew! Bet you were glad to get that off your chest!

My opinion: Enduras (and Delicas) are likely the two knives in the lineup that have the most "mass appeal"...so that those who are turned off by Spyderco's "fugly" designs (as I've heard them called!) will buy one of these, realize that Spyderco quality is top-notch, and will then venture into other products in the Spyderco line.
As for the many variations that you so dismay? Stick around awhile and you'll see there are plenty of us around who will collect every possible variation of a beloved knife that's out there! Crazy, I know!
I wasn't able to see what was special about the Endura and Delica at first, but now have several Enduras and a couple Delicas, and it won't stop there, I can assure you...YMMV
Hope that shed a little bit of light on the subject! :D

Well, "trollish" may be that after 4 pages of replies, he didn't come up with a single post to comment them :D
...maybe his computer got broken?
and regarding his concern: I'm sure it is easier to change the color of the FRN to white (which lots of us will buy cause it looks kinda cool..did you notice all the new cars presented in white lately?) than creating something like the Sage or the Barong or even (or should I say particularly?) the Tenacious.
Well, all of them are (about to be) available, too. So, no problem there.
Did I mention that a FRN VG10 FFG ENDURA would be a cool variant? :D

Gonna have to disagree diver.
The Delica and Endura (as stated already) are a lot of the bread and butter for Spyderco. I don't think they are doing anything wrong with the variations here. They have a TON of knives available to us and in addition to that they ask what we want, and then give it to us. You really can't ask for much more than that. There is not another company in this market (other than Kershaw to an extent) that does this.

I already have both the Delica and the Endura, and in several variations, yet I'd be very dissapointed if Spyderco would discontinue them. As long as they are available you can abuse them knowing that you can always have a replacement
