Ladybug3: Orange PE or White SE?
Ladybug3: Orange PE or White SE?
Hi,
I'm hoping to buy one of the new ladybug 3s. Any advice on benefits of PE vs. SE, given the tiny form-factor?
The primary use would be on a keychain -- opening packages, mail, misc small stuff.
Advice/comments would be greatly appreciated.

Orange or white?
To be more useful, a knife that small benefits from a SE. On the other hand, I think that PE looks a bit nicer and so does the orange FRN in my opinion. So I am going to buy an orange one and use it together with my black :spyder: SE Ladybug 3.

i would get the stainless steel one for your key chain. i felt like the colored ladybugs would open in my pocket somehhow, they open alot easier than the SS ladybug. plus the SS looks better with your keys.
then get the white one for saving
Go for a FRN PE Ladybug.
- The PE blade will be a breeze to sharpen and it should easily handle all of the cutting chores that you mentioned.
- For a keychain I would definitely go for FRN over SS. The FRN models are noticeably lighter (about half the weight of the SS), they are very durable, and there is no need to worry about inadvertent openings.

Personally, I was hoping for an SE Orange Ladybug. When the white came out with SE, and the Orange with PE, there was no contest though:
I think white and orange are both cool, so the SE is the deciding factor.
I've had an SE Ladybug 2 for 5 years and I never needed to sharpen it to cut something the knife is designed to cut. I don't think that's possible with a PE blade. Now that the Ladybug 3 has VG-10, the SE blade should be ready to cut ANY time it's needed.
For a keychain, I want reliability not performance. Ladybug 3 SE, Arc AAA-P, Atwood Flat Gasbaby... :D
To be fair, I don't use the SE Ladybug alone, it has a white SAK classic attached to it if I need any of those things.
The obvious answer is get both, hehe, but I find for the size of the Ladybug and it's intended usage, SE fits the bill best. Also, the White run isn't "paper" white. It's an off white and dosn't show dirt as easily as you might think.

For me it was very simple: I prefer PE and I like orange more than white (also orange is more practical). So I bought two of them: for my better half and for me. Love it.

I REALLY want the orange one too. But considering I'm a 20 year old design student, I'd have a guilty conscience grabbing a 2nd one.
