my big disappointment was my BRG ZDP endura SE. the serrations started chipping right away after cutting some zipties and some of those lil twist-ties used on all kids toys nowadays. before you start yelling at me about the right tool for the right job...stop...i heard it already and just chalk it up as one of zdp's cons versus its many pros. i just dont buy zdp in serrated anymore. my other disappointment was the foliage green color in the g10 endura, just not my cup of tea.

My biggest surprise was the BG-42 Military. I love the thing and wouldn't part with it for the world, now I only hope to get the S90V version!
I think the biggest disappointment would be the Police actually. It is a fantastic knife but I just can't seem to ever get a good grip on it. I love it and carry it but the handle just confuses me

it just doesnt have the spyderco quality youd expect from a spyderco, after paying 190 for it i am just glad its not one im carrying everyday, the clip is really thin too, it seems like itll bend real easy, the blade shakes aswell not so tight.
Biggest surprise for me was the Military. I swore it would just be too big for me and only bought my first (FG D2) as a "collector" piece. Now I own 3 Millie variants and almost always have at least one on me. My hands-down-favorite knife is my BG-42 Millie. Without a doubt. :D
Biggest disappointment was the PE Tasman. As much as I WANT to like it, the edge just doesn't do enough for me.
My SE Tasman however, would probably be my #2 biggest surprise! It is the only knife that always goes with me everywhere, no matter what. Keeps a razor sharp edge too. My other EDC's probably see more regular use, but when the SE Tasman gets used, it's usually pretty abusive and it keeps on coming back for more with nary a complaint!

most disappointing spydie would have to be my S90V military . Love everything about the knife's size, shape, handle, cutting ability, etc. It's one downfall was in my opinion a major one considering it's the most money I've ever spent on a spydie. On my particular millie, the liner would travel a little more than half way across the tang when opened ( a little too far for my taste) which I would've been able to live with, but there's one more issue with the lock. If I applied pressure to the back of the blade ( no tapping or whacking, just pressure) the liner actually slides back towards the handle scale. I'm sure it's just a booboo on my particular knife as my other military models are rock solid. I sent it back to the good folks at warranty and repair about a month ago and I'm patiently awaiting it's return. They haven't let me down yet so my hopes are high. :D

Surprise?
Manix- WOW that thing rocked the moment I held it
Dodo- I thought, WTF is this thing? Then I accidentally cut myself with it and fell in love
Dissapointed?
Delica 4- too pedestrian for me after owning a Calypso Jr
Spin- kinda pricey for such a tiny piece of steel whose handle won't fit my hand

SURPRISES
+Yojimbo-I never would have thought it would fit my hand so good.
+Ocelot-Same thing.
+Cricket-Same thing, and great blade shape. Handy little knife.
Disappointments
-Adventura-Loved the looks. Didn't like the "U" shape on the bottom of the handle, where my middle finger and ring finger rested. It made the knife feel slippery in my hand.
-ATR-Same thing, but even worse. Also felt too thin (clip side to other side) and too tall (top to bottom).
Growing Disappointment
E4 and D4-I loved both, especially the E4, for a long time. The E4 feels great in my hand, and a perfect all around length for me. But as I've acquired more Spydies with different grinds, I've started carrying the E4 and D4 less and less. I've got to get a new one in the flat grind!

I did actually post this in a seperate thread but I do believe that it goes here as well since I did post about not liking foliage green.
--------
I've been a bit harsh on my feelings of wire clips and also foliage green G10. So I'd like to say a few things on how I feel about them now.
First off I've been carrying my foliage green UKPK for about a week now and I just love it. I was a bit turned off when I got it because the clip was sitting off of the knife about 1/8" or more. You could slide about 5 sheets of paper between the knife and the clip. There was not anything at all wrong with the knife other than the clip that looked like it had been streched away from the knife. Just today I still wasn't satisfied with the wire clip so I removed the clip and took a pair of pliers and bent it a little to make it a little tighter. Afterwards I put it back on and now it's been great. There's hardly any movement on the clip now. It's lovely. I love the wire clip on the Native III so why not also love the one on the Caly 3 and the UKPK? Well, I do now. :)
I've also been "complaining" a bit much about foliage green G10 scales. This last week or so with my foliage green UKPK has made the foliage green really grow on me. It's not the standard black and green is my favorite color so I don't mind the shade too much. In fact I'm about to buy a Honda Accord in a very similar color of green. Maybe... :)
So please forgive my rash judgements on foliage green and the wire clips. I do change my mind quite a bit and I do really love both of these items now very much. Sometimes it just takes me a little longer to warm up to things.
So.....I would add foliage green and wire clips to my list of "surprises". :)
Thanks for reading.
