Today's new arrival - Foliage Green UKPK

#1

Post by Fred Sanford »

Today, my first UK Pen Knife arrived. I purchased it through Catamount. Thanks Tom!

This knife is beautiful. I love it and the finger choil is way better than the Caly 3. I'm not so sure if I can get used to how hard it is to open with my thumb but it does "lock up" pretty good considering it really doesn't have a lock.

Here are a few pics of her. She looks good beside my Paramilitary too. :)

By the way, in the last picture it looks as if the blade is off center on the UKPK when closed. This is not the case it's just the angle of the photo. The blade is centered perfecly when closed!

Enjoy...

Right there you have my two favorite Spydercos. I have no doubt that over time you will come to love the UKPK even more. That choil is just amazing.

Very nice! It's pics and mini-reviews like this that are pushing me more and more towards the UKPK!

My fg should be on the brown truck as we speak! Can't wait. I've noticed lately my move towards a smaller edc. I have been carrying large folders for so many years now that it is almost refreshing to be a little different.

Nice new knife David. I'm really considering one of these in the future. Please let us know how you like the one hand opening after some EDC.

Sure does make you appreciate how G-10 is made a lot more doesn’t it. Just wait, carbon fiber is even more fun. Watch out for kevlar, it will dull sissors in a single cut. I made my own G-10 a while back, it was really cool and all but I decided that I’ll leave it to people with more time and money than myself.

Sorry not trying to hijack the thread.

Some new observations on the knife:

The clip can be pulled away from the knife just by lightly pulling up on it...or if you turn the knife so that the clip is facing the ground (while the knife is horizontal) the clip will move about 1/8" away from the knife handle. The screw for the clip is tight. It seems that something is not bent correctly and I have to remove the clip and rebend the parts that are under the screw so that the clip is actually tight against the knife. I used to have a Caly 3 and it didn't have this issue. It just seems that maybe it didn't get bent all the way or something.

I'm not too sure I like the no lock thing. It's just weird to not have one. It's also REALLY hard for me to open with one hand. I can do it but I've come close to cutting myself because you have to use a lot of force to open this Slippit.

It's a nice knife but the Para is going back in my pocket. :)

Tricod,

You're not hi-jacking my thread. Even if you were I wouldn't care bro. NO worries. :)
