Female Interest In Knives

I was at a hairsalon where my girlfriend works as a stylist ,and i was carrying one of my Spydies(D4) clipped to my belt and i decided to take a seat and wait at the reception counter.
After a while,i felt a tap on my shoulder and this girl,that i know working at the salon aswell, asked me, if im into knives,as she noticed the D4 i had clipped to my belt.
On which i replied, yeah,and that il wear a knife more often, than even a nice watch.
she then said that she loves knives and would like to see my collection of knives,and that she has always adored the knives her grandfather collected.
The funny thing is,that most of the men from my area wouldn't even ask or notice it,when someone wears a knife,specially the men coming to the hairsalon, and would rather spend their money on expensive hairgel and expensive shampoo,than even showing any interest in a knife,or purchase thereof.
I just have to say,that i respect it when females can find knives and collecting them interesting,and better so,when they know way more about knives,cars etc. than most men do.

My wife works for a very high-end hair care product company that sells only to very exclusive salons. She also EDC's a pink D4 and one of her responsibilities is to unpack and setup initial shipments of product to new salons (LOTS of box cutting and opening). She constantly gets comments and compliments on her "Barbie knife" from both men and women alike.

I think my 9 year old daughter will grow up with a good appreciation of Spyderco knives as she pretty much knows most of my EDC's by name now. Her favorite is the Cricket, of course! :D

With my Caly3 G10 purchase,the cashier lady told me how cute,she thinks the Spydie bug print is on the blade.mmm...
So i guess Spyderco has a cute side to it too?For me Spyderco is just SUPER cool.

My daughter (13) carries a Delica 3 and doesn't feel complete without it.
Her first knife was a SAK and after that came a Meerkat.
Now the Meerkat has went to my brother in law.
He's not a knife afi at all but lately he lost track of it for a few days and really missed it.

PS. my daughter loves to flip her balisong when she's at home.
She was pretty mad when she heared about the upcoming ban on bali's overhere.

My wife loves her Ladybug, I've even had to re-sharpen it because it gets used so often at her office. A couple of days ago I saw her open my Native with one hand to cut open a package, she used to only feel comfortable with an old fashioned two hand opening. Then last week at a local sporting goods store she was eyeing up an etched Dragonfly! I already know one thing thats going into her stocking next Christmas. :)

I have about 30 knives in display cases on the wall above my desk. They hold with pins, which go through holes on the blades and handles.
Last weekend we had a company of five couples. My knives didn't attract any attention of males, but my knives caught attention of two women. One of them noticed laminated lines, asked me about them and what Dodo and SE blades can be used for, which ones I carry the most? So I pulled out the pockets C83 Persian and Caly3. They found Caly3 very ergonomic and Persian little too big for them.
The funny part was when second women asked the first if she know what the hole on the blade for. And first answered, that it is for hanging on the wall. :D
Of cause I corrected and demonstrated how to open, one of them even tried. :)

I don't know why guys are so shocked when girls notice, are interested in, or carry a knife. As my boyfriend said, girls like shiny things....jewelry among other things, and a knife is just a shiny thing with an edge and a practical purpose. :D Not saying that is the only reason girls enjoy knives, but it is one that makes me laugh so I figured I would share.

My girlfriend was a little intimidated by knives when she ws first introduced to my little obsession. I'm happy to say that her opinion changed a lot quicker than I ever would've expected. She's gotten quite good at naming spydies and even has a few of her own now(waved delica, robin, and a pink endura). I must say I'm pretty proud to have spread my spyderknuttiness on to at least one other person, especially one of the fairer sex :D

When selling knives at shows I find quite a few women interested in the knives on the table. They tend to be more practical in their choices....except for the all dressed in black "Goth" types who want pink switchblades, skull things, bali's etc.

North Carolina has some very cool, down to earth women who grew up hunting, can skin their own deer, sharpen their own knives etc. They're still all women too. They're one of Carolinas greatest natural resources. Joe

woman,who like and do, the things us men are supposed to be famous for,i think totally ROCK :cool: After all,they will understand us and our obsessions with cars,bikes,sport,fishing,knives etc.alot better,than other woman do,who just complain,about us men and telling us that we are on autopilot ,when they tell us about something and think,we are not listening,and we actually are listening. :confused:
